Even if it was all donated, not like she would borrow $1,500 to donate, but $2,500 won't change the thousands that starve to death there every day.

That's like saying "I can't believe you bought a new car, think how much good this amount of money could have done in Africa." Silly! Some people like diamonds, some fast cars, and some value our 4 legged friends...to each their own. I would much rather spend it on pets than cars, and I drive a beater to ensure it. Diamonds are another matter...

However, she has a very good point that it depends where the money is going and how dependable the person is. I would be good for it, but I would exhaust my other avenues first. I have also asked trusted clients to hold on to $3-4,000 for me, and would again. Course I'd need to know where you live first...lol.

I leave this one for someone else... since I've never heard of African refusing to wear condoms. Nor have I heard that it's a continent of AIDS infected rapists. I think you are mixing gossip from Ghana (or thereabouts) where AIDS reportedly started, and a part of South Africa where there is a lot of rape and violence.

I have it on good authority that AIDS was created in a Princeton Lab and the lab tech (a gay guy) happened to be the first to catch and spread it. The first documented case was an American male flight attendant who travelled to Western Africa on his route and saw a lot of prostitutes. That is how it was blamed on Africa... of course, the USA gov't wasn't about to admit to inventing a "plague". We'll never know whether he took it there, or brought it from there.
