These protestors want the public support but they block hwy1 and it annoys the public.

How do they expect public support when they annoy the public?

Woke garbage mentality....

Bringing awareness through education is one thing, but professional protestors and crisis actors won't rest until they are living RENT FREE inside your head.

After watching so many protests for so many years, I have come the the conclusion there is a group of people I refer to as professional protestors, the same people show up at many different protests. Are they hired??
Many in fact are, yes.

There are definitely people out there who simply want to see the world burn…

I do support a ban on old growth logging. But ffs give the loggers /companies incentive to focus on 2nd growth and stop clear cutting. Province isn’t doing anything to make positive change and build/sustain jobs.

Anyways… building support by blocking roads, making people late for appointments, work, flights, etc is NOT a way to garner support IMO. I’m 100% for protest and free speech (within respectful limits…) but shutting things down without alt solutions is counterproductive.

My guess is that these are people who have found a community in protesting. They're not paid, or externally motivated to go. The cause isn't as important as being with a bunch of people equally upset at something, anything. They're basically self selecting to be at whatever protests are available, and it just happens that there's a lot of overlap in the target group for these different causes.

Sorry guys and gals but I realized, I had some typos in my original post which I corrected now.

I hope hwy1 is clear today had to go thru a stalled truck and 2 construction zones yesterday....added 30 mins more to my commute....argh.

Anyways...maybe a hefty fine would stop the protestors....say up to 1 year in jail and a $10,000 fine when blocking the roads.

I am not against free speech but when it comes to crippling the public than it is an issue.

Regards,

Cory.

I remember seeing an interview with a protester at the Gas Link pipeline site a couple years ago. She was so dumb she didn’t even know what the pipeline was going to transport.

I think something more subtle than a fine, it involves a couple of D9 cats and a test of there resolve!

I know a young person that does exactly this……works for 3 months in summer, goes on unemployment because they just made the time threshold to collect.
They then go camp with their protestor buddies, stir up some shit, get fed and wasted, then go live in some flop house till early summer.
Yet somehow they can afford cell phones, data charges, tattoos, and a piece of shit car.
It seems the protest is simply a means of community, ,belonging, security and collaboration with like minded individuals.

Well if it helps at all: for every one of the freeloaders out there, there’s gotta be 1000’s who DO work hard and benefit from these taxes. And for every freeloader I see, I also see/meet folks who receive the same benefits for legit reasons. So I’m not going to get too fired up over a couple ppl/1000’s of $ wasted (compared to where $ is wasted elsewhere…). I’m more pissed that their actions, even IF they’re based on the purest of intentions and really ARE looking to save the old growth, so adversely affects so many others. The irony is that all those 100’s or 1000’s adversely affected probsbly WOULD support this cause (I’m guessing many would, but haven’t seen a poll to prove) but are less likely when they see how these protests are being done. Much like the truck convoy and the inconveniences they caused*

(* and not to belabour the point, but I never saw any comment on the truckers freeloading on society, like I often see for these old growth protesters. Ppl must assume the truckers are good old fashioned hard working folk…despite that they’re not working much when driving across the country and sitting in the capital for weeks, but I digress…)
