They are quite progressive in NZ. Prostitution is considered a legitimate profession (though some social stigma is still attached). The ladies who work for agencies/brothels all receive medical and other benefits just like any other employee would, and the employer has to pay into their retirement plan. There are regulations regarding where an in call or brothel can be located (for example not near schools, churches etc.) and no neon signs are permitted to advertise.

The unfortunate situation is that with full legalization, there are far more ladies in the industry. The price points are much lower than that of Vancouver escorts, or most international escorts for that matter ~ however, the service level is also much less than one would expect, even from an average MP out here. There are virtually no upper level companions who reside there, and other than two ladies who come to mind, the only real courtesans are ladies visiting from abroad.

As with all arenas, positive change in one area yields both positive and negative changes in others.

Of course full legalization will lead to lower prices. About the level of service it is perfectly reasonable to think that it was low prior to legalization as well.

The point is that some bright entrepreneur will see an angle, go for it and in so doing, change the industry. Why not? The product really sells itself. The money is made through packaging and presentation.
Would this not be the reason for the popularity of the Fkk's in Germany.
If so, why would NZ not use the success of the Fkk's as a model to build on
their sex trade business. I guess it all has to do with the social conscienceness
and attitude of different countries. Countries like Germany and Brazil embrace
their love of sex and are positive towards the idea that life should be a sexual
celebration:)

Have seen my share of escorts in Vancouver, high price, mid and low.

I can assure you that price has nothing to do with client satisfaction.

Service levels may be higher here, but who cares if client satisfaction is "so-so"?

The union is more of a collective, and was pretty significant in influencing not just the decriminalization but the whole regulation of the industry. A case of where the govt. actually worked with the workers to come up with laws, penalties, and OHS policies.

I am not sure what kind of rates or different "levels" there might be. Street work remains, independents work from apartments (limit to how many per place to qualify as "legal" and then there are the agency/mp employers, which actually often works well for many sps who really do not want to deal with advertising and maintaining their own places. I am not sure what the cost of living is there, compared to here, or maybe the smaller selection of clientele or traveling clients?

Tips for newbie sps is to go visit their local nzpc (new zealand prostitute collective) for information and tips.
