It was just announced today by Immigration Canada that temporary foreign workers are banned from working in strip clubs, escort services, or massage parlours - I don't know to what extent this will affect our hobby, but it's definitly not a positive.

It might be all for show, and an exact definition of terms, which could exclude those who are on permanent, or student visas.

on yer ignore list
this is probably so the conservatives can add to their 'job creation' numbers for canadians, lol

***edit***

if immigration actually provides funding to police the amended regulations, i expect that the effect will be to drive further underground, the operations that primarily rely on foreign workers

many of the operations will become operated as 'private clubs', with heavily screened membership. and yes the price will go up somewhat to cover potential losses from the lack of 'walk-in' customers

however, it might lead to a general increase in the looks and youth of the workers, since competition for members of the private clubs will increase as well

just sayin' :)

The federal government is no longer allowing employers linked to the sex trade to hire strippers, escorts and massage parlour workers from outside the country.
Since it is effective immediately, I guess we'll find out pretty fast if it affects the scene or not. I wonder what percentage of visiting foreign providers are here with work permits. Do retail AMP's sponsor employees on work permits?
