Of course if a team is in the playoffs they will keep there UFAs.

I just think in the future they might start doing something, like a 5 year contract with ntc only first 3-4 years or something like that.
Or if a player waives his NTC, then its waived. Not just to the players 1 or 2 teams he wants to play on.

So far the story of the 2013 trade deadline, is 2 high end players going to the hottest team, for peanuts.
This trend leads to less parody in the league.
From capgeek.com:

What's the difference between a NTC and a NMC?

A no-trade clause means a player cannot be traded without his consent. Consent is not required for waivers for assignment to the minors.

A no-move clause means a player cannot be traded, waived for a claim by another team, or assigned to the minors without his consent. This does not protect the player from a buyout.

Limited and modified NTCs and NMCs simply mean the player's contract includes specific terms for the clauses, usually allowing the player to specify a no-trade list of undesireable teams or a trade list of desireable teams.

If a player waives a clause to accept a trade to a new team, it is rare he will do so without a promise that the acquiring team will continue to honour the clause. Brad Richards, when traded from Tampa Bay to Dallas in 2007-08, is an example of this. However, if the player is traded before a clause has kicked in, that clause is automatically ruled void.

It should also be noted that clauses can only cover what would have otherwise been unrestricted free agency years.

Jesus H Christ....sorry I offended those hockey fans that have distinct knowlede about Dale Hawerchuck and Ray Borque..I spent a shitload of time and effort to espouse the accomplishments of Iginla and tried to tie them all in as they are so similar.....yeah well maybe I did not get right every detail...maybe I did not say the exact words but I said them.

No matter what the guy does deserve the opprtunity to hoist the sacred chalice of Hockey.....the guy has earned it FFS.

I know Crosby likes to gobble up any pucks coming his way, but that was a little much on his part....

Broken jaw isn't like a broken foot. Not only will he have to wait for it to heal, he will lose a lot of weight too.
My buddy broke his jaw and lost over 30 pounds.

I am guessing we dont see him till round 2

in the 68-69 season Bobby Hull suffered a broken jaw courtesy of an elbow from Mike Pelyk.

Hull missed ONE GAME!incredible, but he put on a helmet, with,I think, one face bar(football style)
and carried on,even played in the all-star game.
Also set a then-record 58 goals.

Not to say today's players are soft, they're not,but Hull's feat was amazing.

I'm a little behind.
Just saw the Flames were able to dump Bouwmeester, and his $6.7 salary for next year.

No idea why St. Louis would take this.
Kudos to the Flames for dumping their worse signing in years, and getting a 1st rounder out of it!

Big difference is that Hull, along with many of the players of his time, was a MAN, not a twinkle toes little pansy-ass pussy like Crosby is... He's done for the year, count on it

A first rounder and 2 prospects to be exact and yeah KUDOS to Flames management on that trade as the signing of Boumeester was one of the worst the team has ever done...what really sucks is they traded away Regher to make cap space and pretty much got nothing for him....thanks to Keenan I believe.

I still have not watched a single NHL game.

Silly Pittsburgh. I guess they still haven't figured out that even when you score 36 goals in 6 games, you still can't win a playoffs round if you give up 41.

I like Derek Roy and think this is a good pick up. The Canucks still need a top 6 winger.
Penguins are what? 45 yrs in NHL? Canucks 42? Penguins have 3 cups to 0 for Van, with a helluva lot better chance to add to that this year than the Canucks do. Silly Pittsburgh indeed. I don't think the Canuck have much to teach Pittsburgh regarding playoff success...
