I need to submit my passport application tomorrow for rush (24 hours) so it will be done for tuesday.
What time should I get to the passport office in order not to have to be there for 6 hours?

Prefferably the Surrey office

Passport Office

As someone who very recently did this, be prepared to spend the entire day there (or 3-4 hours if you get there really early).

I got to Sinclair Centre at 8am and got out at 4:15. People at the front of the line had lined up at 5:30am.

I was told that, in Surrey, they make people line up outside so bundle up and take an umbrella.

If it's a rush, you also have to have your plane ticket or proof of travel with you at the time you apply for your passport. It's also extra money for the rush.

Hope this info helps!

I've just had the pleasure (!) of applying so I thought I'd pass on my experience. I was there at 6 am on a Wednesday and still had to wait six hours. I know someone who recently went at 8 and didn't get in at all ... she waited until 2 and they told her that she wouldn't be processed that day and that she had to come back another day.

This was downtown by the way. I'm not sure if it's different at other offices. Given that you only have one business day between now and Tuesday, my advice is to go as early as you possibly can tomorrow, to avoid the chance that you might not get in at all.

One other thing. You probably know this, but the website sets out very limited reasons for urgent (24h) applications. They are (1) death/ illness (2) urgent business reasons (3) humanitarian reasons and (4) military deployment abroad. Documentary proof is required for each. Needing a passport to avoid missing a vacation or forfeiting airplane fares is not sufficient.

Good luck! :)

Insane.

i mailed my passport applications too...the forms say 20 days, but at sinclair centre, they stated that it can be 6 months  before getting them
Sounds like we have about as much efficiency in this country as you would find in Nigeria. (at least there, you can grease some petty official's palm to get something done).

Try Richmond

There is a passport office in Richmond (Saba Road) across from Richmond Center. Lineup there is much better as it is NOT downtown and NOT Surrey.

web-site and then stand in line

Hi everyone

Fastest way is fill out the application online and wait in line to get into the office. Once in the office, you are directed straight to the front of the line. I suggested the same to friends in TO and Van and all saved 3 - 5 hours in line ups. Fastest you can get a passport now is generally in one week.

Welllllll

I got to the office at 7am. The line was 2 full blocks long!!!! I waited outside until 11:30am when i was let in and things went fast from there as I got my passport on rush.
Others standing with me were still waiting to submit their papers at 3pm.

What amazes me though, is how friendly and high spirited everyone in the line was. Funny how we can be so rude and cold to eachother in every day life..... but warm and uplifting in a friggen passport line. It would be my hope that everyone would treat eachother like that all the time
ie: holding a place in line while the other person goes to get a coffee, then that person brings you one back too :)

Ok, all this talk of traveling is making me itch to travel. (LOL, just got off a plane 2 days ago...I know..I'm silly)

Someone take me to Hawaii dammit! I can't wait til June..it's too long away...;)
ooo me me me I volunteer!

(Well, if Fort McMurray plus a house with a lot of lei's and sun lamps and the heat turned up to 30 degrees counts as Hawaii) ;)
