Old news...re the Cecil hotel and strip club

I was going past it recently and noticed everything is boarded up.

After a search on the internet i found an interesting article about many Vancouver clubs
being gone & why:

"Instead of simply being able to move to another club in Vancouver to find work, Rain once again found herself with few options. Over the past few years, exotic dance clubs across the Lower Mainland have dropped like flies as the police pressure clubs to shut down and the province and private developers snatch up the low-income hotels where many of the clubs are located. With too many dancers and not enough clubs in the city, many of the women have had to travel east and find a mainstream job, or cross personal boundaries and go into other forms of sex work they don’t necessarily feel comfortable with."

The Vancouver Police Department is especially notorious for showing up at some clubs every day with anywhere from three to 20 officers, then harassing customers by checking their ID, taking photos of their tattoos and searching their cars. They’ve also reportedly burst into VIP areas where naked women are giving private dances.

Haven't been to a peeler club in ages, but have never noticed anything like that. Kind of curious if others have...

I've had them come in quite frequently at the 5.
They tend to harass those with 'connections'.
Guys like myself get left alone.

Never had one burst in on a private dance though. Most girls won't take you upstairs if the cops are around.

This sounds like raids on Thailand clubs, where LE even force patrons to give urine samples for testing to see if illicit drugs are present.

Obviously you were going to the wrong clubs!

I'm in that area often, but don't think i've ever been there. Should check it out sometime.
