Obama-McCain debate

I was disappointed that Obama couldn't give a knock-out blow. There should have been a "...and here's what YOU don't understand, Senator McCain..." moment where he nailed him.

You can't count the canny old bastard out. He knows how to appeal to his constituents.

Obama should also have had a good line prepared to emphasize how important a change in direction is to the U.S.'s standing in the eyes of the world. Americans have apparently lost their pride in how they are viewed by the rest of us, and it is no longer an issue.

I still think that our neighbours will do the right thing, but I just can't understand how it can be so close.

Taking into account the current state of the American economy, it seems as if Americans would be more concerned about their current health care system, financial system, and overall livelihoods. Not a war that continues to bring mounds of debt.

The average American is, it's only the elites and their stenographers in the mainstream media who wish to deflect the very real concern about the economic system with nonsense about wars on terrorism, drugs etc.

Taking into account the current state of the American economy, it seems as if Americans would be more concerned about their current health care system, financial system, and overall livelihoods. Not a war that continues to bring mounds of debt.

Remember that there are three debates scheduled. The theme of the first debate was foreign policy. Economic issues were the subject of a later debate. That debate will probably be a bit more interesting now that the bailout will factor into it.
