i'd really still like to see them sign carter if he brings his price down a bit. seems no one else is signing the guy so i hope he realizes that and signs. although he might be a bit jaded and just not sign here at all.
i think the canucks published offer was dead on:

$2 mil for 2 years ...

double (?) what he got last year, not quite what the Sedins get this year:
but i think that they did most of the work in the corners and he went to
the net and got alot of 'right place, right time' goals -- but they count
too so good for all of them!

with the cap, two mil is a lot of money and Carter should take it
if its still on the table, enjoy Vancouver (the city) and go out with
style.

I think if we sign Carter now, we have to start the season with 9 forwards, 7 defencemen and 1 goalie!

Flaherty is currently the only other goalie in the organization with any NHL experience and at this point the backup job is his to lose but I think Nonis will bring in someone to challenge him at camp. Cory Scneider is at least a year, possibly two years away from seeing big league action.

Dustin Slade has a walk on try-out,probably wont get the Canucks job, but should at least play for the the SalmonKings if not for the Moose.

Flaherty has done a lot for the Moose, but he is not a goaltender for the NHL level
He was always a canuck killer in his time in the nhl.

They are running the team with a calculator rather some heart and passion.
Every team is having to adhere to the same cap. Heart and passion? Where did that get them...one playoff round win in several years?

Based on the salary commitments on the TSN web site:

The Canucks have 15 players for a total commited salary of $36.95M. The Cap is said to be $43M. Most teams want to be about $2M under the Cap to leave some wiggle room, so that leaves $4.05M for 7 players. If we sign Carter for $2M that leaves $2.05M for 6 players. Barring any more trades, we can kiss his ass goodbye for certain. Say hello to Europe, Anson.:D

The league minimum is $450,000. So, you would need 2.7 million for 6 players signed at the minimum.
By the way, I thought the cap was 44 million, and i think Nonis is planning on being 1.5 mil under. Any way you slice it, there is not much room for any player asking for a million, let alone Carter who was asking for 3.
