Before you blow your stack, I mispelled Grey on purpose.

With Grey Cup coming I expected a lot of posts on the game, but there was only one thread and it died when the Lions lost.

Have Canadians lost interest in Canadian football?

Oh well just 3 more months to the Super Bowl.

IMHO, I don't think the CFL is loosing popularity. And I think it helps the league is still relatively small compared to other sports leagues like hockey, baseball, NFL, etc, etc.

I believe there's still a healthy following of fans who love the event and take great fun in enjoying Canadian tradition regardless of who's on the field. It was a shame the the Lions had such a dismal second half of the season and wasn't able to show up on the field in their own home town. That might be a dissapointment to BC fans, but the fact remains the party is going ahead and game will be played despite our (BC Lions fans') dissapointment.

I don't have tickets, but I'm going to watch the game, because it's fun. And Canada has a good football game even if the end zone is the size of a corn field in Nebraska. At least we don't need four downs to move the ball.

Edmonton fans and Montreal fans are going to invade our city for the weekend and the hotel owners will love it, the bar owners will love it, the souvenier venders will love it, the cab drivers will love it, the restaurant owners will love it, and there's going to some pooners in town as well.

Join the party folks, it's not going to kill you.

The one question I have is why is it the CFL was allowed to stay in imperial measure when the rest of the country was forced to adopt the metric system?

It's a waste to have the game in Vancouver (again!!).

The Grey Cup needs to be played outside in the elements....that's what

makes it great. IMHO.

I agree,,allthough it will be a boost to the Lotusland economy.....The game should be played in one of the Hovels vying for the cup

was at the western final, it was fun. the outcome sucked but it was fun and i plan to go to many more cfl games. i find the cfl version of football to be faster, higher scoring and a bit more exciting then the nfl although i like the nfl as well. the lions and toronto both losing kind of took the steam out of the grey cup for me.

the last times the lions won a few years back, i was walking down robson kind of late at night and i saw damon allen and a few other players with the grey cup outside on the deck at the cactus club. i got to touch it = ) .

Absolutley on both counts..Outside is where football was ment to be played. It should be played at a different CFL city every year like it is now..this keeps the interest up and allows fans to experience a Grey Cup every few years. And the 97 Finals in Edmonton were and absolute blast!!!!

The Grey Cup is like the Brier, you should just go if you can and have a lot of fun the people are fantastic and the parties are even better.

Not me. I'm looking forward to the Grey Cup. I wouldn't make the presumption that since there are not any posts about the Grey Cup that there is no interest. There is probably not the interest as if BC had made it, but instead they went out to lose 6 of their last eight games after winning 11 straight.

I find the Eskimos-Alouette match-up to be a nostiglic one as they have met 10 times before: 1954, 1955, 1956, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1979, 2002, and 2003. The Eskies winning seven with the Als winning in 74, 77 and 02.

My prediction is Alouettes 37 Eskimos 31.

A great misconception. If we were truly forced to adopt the metric system then in the west a massive network of municipal roads in rural areas would have to been ripped up and rebuilt because they are located by a square mile grid.

Nope. In general CFL players, be they imports or non-imports tend to be faster than players in the NFL. Heavier players have trouble keeping up with the play. Take for instance 'Rider RB Kenton Keith upon his return from the NY Jets. Keith upped his weight to about 210-215 but when he came back to the CFL he was clearly not as effective. After dropping to around 190, he got back the speed he is known for.

Lots of Interest Here in Edmonton...

I grew up with the Canadian game, and played in high school and university. For me it will always be the right way to play football. I also have more respect for CFL players, because I know they do it for the love of the game, less than the dough. Most of these guys make less than a heavy equipment operator and their dedication is to be admired.
As for not trumpeting Grey Cup in posts, I come here for the Babes. I go elsewhere for football...

Best Canadian College football fans

This is a bit off topic. I lived in the Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario and now BC and have attended College football,basketball and hockey let me tell ya, team support in Universities suck in every province except Nova Scotia. The "Bluenosers" know how to show up and support their team. The stands were crowded with Acadian fans. I remember the hockey finals when Acadia U. played in Toronto vs U. of Toronto. Acadian fans were the loudest. They always had the best pub parties after a winning game.

With my team out of it (and no, not the Lions, the Argos) - I'll still watch the game - it should be a heck of a lot more interesting than what the NFL will serve up on Sunday. As much as it hurts, I'm picking the Als to win in a close one.
