http://www.vancouversun.com/Naked+employee+lands+Richmond+massage+parlour+trouble/4288822/story.html

I just had a blast reading this Vancouver Sun article...the poor fellow caught was probably not laughing at all, was it one of us??

"One of them, a Const. Upshall, pulled back a curtain covering a window into one of the rooms to reveal a naked masseuse carrying out a sex act with an equally naked customer."
The masseuse was naked? This sounds like a good review..lol

"By the time the officer’s colleague, Const. Howard, entered the room a few moments later, the act had stopped, but both the employee and customer were in a position and state of undress that was consistent with Const. Upshall’s observations, according to their transcript of the inspection."
What a precise observation, did they take DNA?

"The customer told the officers that he’d paid $160 for a massage, claiming that there was no indication of sex being offered, nor was it asked for.
He claimed that, with no urging from him, the employee massaged his private parts and began carrying out the sex act.
He told the officers he was “surprised” at her actions, but admitted he did not ask her to stop."
HILARIOUS.. officer, my cock just fell into her pussy

After being given a robe to cover her, the employee denied any such act had taken place, saying that it was “nothing”
Poor fellow must feel devastated that is cock counts for "nothing" (small, tiny, little..yes, but "nothing" OUCH).

Haha, looks like we posted at the same time.....I just posted a link to this story in the 411 section. As I said in my post, don't the police have anything better to do, such as go after drug dealers?

I suppose the police are just doing their job they were told to do to enforce the law.
If laws are not enforced, then why have them? Perhaps the problem here has more
to do with the law itself. Of course there are plenty of other officers whose job
is to go after drug dealers. In places such as this there are concerns about things
like illegal and underage workers being present, abused, confined, drugged, etc

I think that's shameful. Doing their jobs or not, that's completely humiliating and not necessary. That's just ridiculous and I feel terrible for the poor sp and client. Give me a break! As if that is the best use of their time or accomplishes anything that benefits society. Pathetic.

Why go after places that are safe for girls to work and not go after actual PIMPS instead!?...
(oh, I forgot, some prefer to use euphemisms and have decided to call them "handlers" instead. Sorry, I'm not a big fan of euphemisms and don't need to use one to make myself feel better... so I'll stick the using the accurate term.)

It's easier to go after the places that are in the open and it gives the cops and politicians cred with the public that they're "cleaning up the city".

The general public doesn't see the pimps, the addicted girls, the drug sales and use... but they can see the massage parlour and that is what gets the cops the points, going after the obvious ones to appease the public while leaving the people being abused and forced to work to their own (non-existent) devices.

To go after pimps it would be a big job, lots of undercover, lots of time.... and lots of money. When they can walk into an MP on their regular shift, lift a curtain and find a jackpot (ie: a potentially chargable offense) then that's what they're gonna do.

It is, however, very pathetic.

Actually, they DID go after the "pimps" (in this case, the MP). It doesn't seem that they charged the girl or her client with anything, they had the bad luck to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. In fact it doesn't look like there are any charges really, it was a only a by-law violation relating to the terms of their business license. The SP and her client would have been ambarrassed and probably concerned that they were going to be exposed to family.

Anyway, I thought that most of these places have unwritten understandings with the local police not to bother them as long as they don't create a nuisance. So I wonder why the cops were there in the first place?

If they are going to go after prostitution, I think their time would be much better spent going after the asian micros where you never know if the girls are there of their own free will or not. Wouldn't be too hard to pretend to be a client. And if these were regular patrol officers, go patrol some areas where there have been lots of break ins or thefts of/from cars.

Maybe the cops were bored? Maybe some holier-than-thou christian complained? Who knows! I know it's their job, but I'm sure there had to be something more pressing going on in the city of Richmond!!

 Am I missing something? Why is there a window with a curtain on the outside of the room in the 1st place?

Because it's a massage parlor in Richmond. The bylaw involved makes it clear that it's not only illegal to employ any person that has been arrested or convicted under any of the prostitution laws, the bylaw also requires frequent physical checks for compliance.
Cops don't do bylaw enforcement. Ask any cop.

I'd say they do. I've witnessed it.

There is one well known MP in town that uses robes hung from holes in the doors when in session. That allows privacy with out a permanent fixture and allows some time before the police bombard the place and take down everyone's names for being there (with nothing permanent on record). They check that every room is meeting by-law standards and you must provide them with identification. With 3 violations the place is shut down and they are trying really hard to get them all shut down. Visits from police as often as 2X a week. They are getting relentless. I do feel bad for the SP and client that got busted. Some places (although this wouldn't get into the paper) fine their SP's for any by-law infraction costs and take it right off there pay out. They say its the SP'd fault for not moving fast enough when the "Cop ALARM" goes off.

Most definitely they do and The Fox Den has had numerous visits, when I worked in an MP YEARS ago, the cops frequented coming there, you had to have ID and a copy of your massage license, they would also check the height of the tables etc. and if they didn't like what they saw, we'd get a visit from the bi-law "enforcers."

@the Meat Market!!!lol
i am all over this, i had a meeting with vice and their boss the inspector in charge of special investigations. these guys have got to get a grip. on the one hand we all agree that pimping little kids is fucking deplorable but we need places to work. the practices employed during a raid are far from professional and i mean to hold them to account, no matter how long it takes, we will end this police violence against sex workers.

There must be no crime in Richmond if they have time to do this.

Are they maybe acting on a complaint? (from a competitor?)
