Honestly I haven't seen one "real" good movie in 2023 even though I've seen all of the movies mentioned here. It's probably my fault for having consumed way too much media over the years. As a result it takes a lot to move me to the like position.
I can mention some of the worst I've seen. Avatar the way of the water. OMG what a boring, unbearably preachy, predictable piece of tripe all wrapped up in eye candy! And then there's Top Gun: Maverick. So cheesy that I had to drink two bottles of wine while watching it.

65, with Adam Driver is a short film (90 minutes) of almost non-stop action. Probably the best CGI dinosaurs I've seen. Better than Jurassic Parkk. Basically a two-person survival adventure.
Caught JW4 in one of the Metropolis theaters, AVX, DB seats the whole schmear.
Fucking awesome. Had my DB seat set to max, swear I got beat up as bad as some of the guys Wick was kicking the crap out of.
Strong recommend for sheer action, tons of stylized shit, great entertainment.

For action lovers the raid redemption is in a class of it's own. Insane action flick. Supreme. Must watch!

Is this one The Raid 1 with a new title or basically The Raid 3? (I already know it is not #2).
Marlowe (2022)
- cast Liam Neeson, Jessica Lange, Diane Krueger
- based on pulp character private detective Philip Marlowe.
- the cast kept this film going despite the lackluster story.
- the problem with this movie is that its suppose to be a throwback to film noir like Chinatown, L.A. Confidential, Flashpoint.,
but is lacking in those elements; the cynicism, the dread and the deep seated ingrained corruption.
Lifeforce (1986)
- horror/science fiction movie.
- an underrated/hidden gem of the 80's, worth checking out.
- bonus; get to see Patrick Stewart before his Star Trek run.
- directed by Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre).
Licorice Pizza (2021)
- directed by Paul W. Anderson
- coming of age film set in the mid 70's southern California.
- tried watching it a couple times, lost interest. Skip it.

The Artifice Girl. A movie that gets one thinking about Artificial Intelligence. No action, not much in the way of set design, but intense dialogue, good acting and logical realism.
I watched Lifeforce several times in the first 10 years it was out. Have not watched it in a long time. I recall that the alien vampire woman was really hot (which is why I watched it several times). But a B flick at best. It must have been low budget production I would guess.

Saw the movie 'Sisu' tonight.
It's another Rambo movie, except this time, Rambo is from Finland, his name is Sisu, and he's fighting Nazis.
It is very action packed, but at the same time, almost cartoonish as to how ridiculous it is, in the sense that our hero doesn't die, no matter what his opponents do. The ending makes you burst out laughing, that's how ridiculous it is.
I heard someone in the theater say out loud that it seems like a Tarantino movie, and that comment seemed very accurate.
If you like action/ adventure, it's great, just don't nit pick the details, you'll frustrate yourself.

I saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on Saturday. Its 2.5 hours long but it goes by quick. A bit indulgent in some style and casting choices but full of dazzling visuals and quirky creature designs. It has the emotional core as you'd expect and its a satisfying finale to the Guardians trilogy and maybe even the MCU.
They played The Marvels trailer in front of it and it looks like a tv show. I think MCU movies have lost their appeal and going forward they oughta just put more effort into their TV shows.

The whole Marvel Universe has diverged so far from what were good storylines, I just gave up. I'll catch one here or there on my IPTV but its just gone too far, movies and TV. My opinion of course but hey, I'm a guy who had the original Spiderman, Daredevil and XMen comic books plus others, I mean from 1 on up to can't recall the number. My mom threw them out way back ...
I caught these two on Netflix:
The Good Nurse: Not a bad movie but not very great either. It is based on a true story. Both lead actors are fantastic though. I just feel this movie could have been turned into a suspense thriller but it is just a thriller. and it just ........... ends. 2.5 out of 5.
I Came By: Good build up but it lost its grip around halfway thru. It seemed to have too many characters trying to do too many things. The story seems to have holes in it. Nice to see Hugh Bonneville doing something different this time. Overall 2.25 out of 5.

Sat through Licorice Pizza and completely regretted it. The most pointless movie I've seen in ages.
I think it might be me but my gist of the movie is: petulant man-child recklessly drags friends into galactic encounter that results in genocide. I did like the Rocket redemption arc though, that was well written. I'm glad to see the series over but sad that they gave Starlord another shot. I would have like to see Rocket, or Glamora, or even Howard the Duck have a chance at a stand alone.
Watched “The Menu” recently. Original, disturbing, not playing on Food Network any time soon.
