McDonald's being the "Official" restaurant of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. I rather swallow the Olympic Torch. And super size it while you're at it. Think about having a Big Mac, fries and a Coke and doing an event. Makes me sick.

You make a great point....and one that is over looked all the time because of MONEY!!!!!!
No fast food outlet should be associated to any sporting event.

The crime is not them being deemed official.
The crime is them being referred to as a "restaurant."

You aint never seen Chad Johnson the Bengals 195lb WR, (chad ocho-cinco), his pre-game meal every week is McDonalds breakfast, and not a little. He eats 2 orders of hotcakes, large orange juice, 2 saucage egg mcmuffins, 1 bacon and egg mcmuffin, and a blueberry muffin, he then goes onto the NFL feild and dominates some of the worlds most physicaly fit atheletes.

So you can't say it's going to effect performance, but yes I've never agreed with McDonalds supporting sports but nobody else seems to want to throw there wad around for sports on any level these days. So if McDonalds wants to keep our kids in sports and they do donate alot of money to childrens sports, then fuck it, it's an evil corperation giving our kids the privlage of playing hockey, football, soccer, baseball, pretty much every sport in this contrey gets more money from McDonalds then it does from our government. So yes McDonalds food is bad for you, and gross, but pop-warner football, kids hockey, tot soccer, and pretty much everything in between, at least here in richmond if you wanna play you where a McDonalds patch because they gave you the chance to play, not the government.

ill never understand the appeal of a food chain that provides a product that goes in one end and out the other (violently i might add) in less than a half an hour.

I LUV McDonald's, especially their fries. That's right I said it!!! :D

I've seen a lot of visting hockey teams chow down McD's breakfast at the Waterfront food court. Steve Yzerman and Mario Lemieux were both down to earth guys.

Oh God, that is a slap in the face to the Olympic athletes! As if any of them would eat that utter garbage. I could think of a few other things I'd like supersized and it's not fries!:)

Actually, some of them do.

Michael Phelps, the american swimmer (that guy that won 8 gold medals in Beijing, and 6 gold in Athens) eats at McDonald's frequently.

Probably because his training regiment burns something like 12,000 calories a day. Junk food is one easiest ways to load up on the calories he needs to keep up with his training.

You are right about that.
I'm an Ectomorph and 25 years ago when I played football for U of Sask, I had a hell of a time putting on and keeping on weight. I was told to eat a couple of Big Macs or Whoppers daily as a way to consume alot of calories in a short span to supplement my otherwise balanced diet.

They do sell really good salads as well, it's all about choices.
Have you seen the nutritional info on their salads? Some of them are worse than the burgers...

Having said that, I do eat there sometimes, and I don't really care about how bad for me it is. I love the fries, and the angus burger isn't bad. Most of the rest of their menu isn't any good IMO. Overall if I'm going for fast food, I prefer Wendy's, or A&W, or DQ. Really the only time I ever eat at McDonalds is when it's more convenient.

Not all athletes can eat like that. For some, in their chosen sports, or their team positions, McDonalds food would be absolutely terrible for them and would definitely affect their performance. I've seen young football players scarf back junk food and then go to a game and the first thing they do once they start having to run....is go to the edge of the field and puke up all the shit they just scarfed back.

but yes I've never agreed with McDonalds supporting sports but nobody else seems to want to throw there wad around for sports on any level these days. It's great that they donate to sports like they do but that doesn't mean we should be obligated to eat there because of that. They should give back to community sports anyway IMO. It will help the kids who eat their food lose weight and help, through physical excersise, prevent other ailments from too many years of crap ingested......

In Cowichan the football club has never received sponsorship from Mcdonalds or any other large corporation. Our funding has come from the government, the lottery corporation, small local businesses and fundraising so you can't say the governemnt doesn't help out. I know for a fact that all football clubs in BC anyway, (I don't know about other sports), receive government and lottery\gaming funds because I've sat on enough boards to know where the money comes from for these things. What the large corporations do by sponsoring is just ensure that the teams have really nice uniforms and extra perks but your base funding for your core program does indeed come from the sources you said it doesn't.

We really are what we eat...... "garbage in, garbage out".
