Wonder why a Canadian money order wouldn't work... Also wonder, if the laws change here (depending of who gets elected and if it's a priority for them), if Backpage in Canada would change how they do business.

nothing is going to change BP's approach. They aren't accepting CC payments even in countries where sex work is decriminalized like in New Zealand and parts of Australia

You're absolutely right leoghaire. Forgetting BP is used globally, not just in North America.

So stupid on the part of the cc Co's . Worst case is that BP will shut down and some other site will take its place. It's like booze, you can try to make it illegal but most of the population will still drink it.

I was never given a line of credit  Maybe they only gave it to Escort section posters because they pay more for bumps? I only post in the Dom & Fetish area. I've noticed I'm getting a lot less WOT inquiries since I stopped bumping my BP ad... The downfall is I've found out a few of my clients were assuming I quit. I've actually found some good guys from advertising there. Just need the patience to sift through all the crap on a daily basis.
Miss Tanya, it doesn't show up until you go to pay. It shows up as "send me a bill". Hopefully it's there for you.

Looks like I picked great time to go Indy ;)

I'm trying to figure out bitcoin, so I signed up with Coinbase and hesitantly gave them my banking info. It seemed easier than my other options, and it's been recommended in the 'bitcoin for escorts' guides online. Now I see in their terms of service that "prostitution and illegal escort services" are prohibited. I'm nervous to use it at all and am thinking of just closing down my account before I use it on Backpage.

Thoughts?

Why not just buy from a bitcoin ATM ? It's very easy to do. Looks like there are several ATMS in Vancouver.

Also see these instructions, I would imagine the bitcoin ATMs in Vancouver work the same way:

The problem as I understand it is that Bitcoin currency fluctuates worse the the Mexican peso. I would try to work with bp, see if they can give you a credit. I've seen it done many times. They send you a free credit of $5-10 so you can at least stay active until they figure it out. As far as I'm concerned, BP might have a vested interest in Bitcoin.

It'll be a cold day in hell before I get bitcoins. Back page just won't get my business and see how they try to collect the $100 I owe them. There are many more better choices (like Perb/Leo list). Maybe backpage needs to go under.

Of course the other option is to send a U.S. Money order. It doesn't go directly to BP, but will credit your account.

Best to use a Canada Post postal money order in USD funds. They require a minimum $50 USD.

Please make payable to "Posting Solutions." Please do not make your payment out to "backpage.com" as we will not be able to accept them.

The fee for a Canada Post money order, either CAN or US currency, is $7. It might make sense to get a larger money order than the minimum $50 USD for BP, because $7 each time could add up. I have no clue how much advertising costs on BP, but if you use it frequently, it's better to pay more up front and save in the long run.

I agree. It's interesting that bit coin charges $2.50 + 15% so at $50 bit coin I'd be paying $2.5 +$7.5=$10. So a money order is still cheaper then bit coin.

Yeah BP is where I got half my clientele.... It's been so slow since I stopped posting there, I finally got a paysafe card last week and went to go put it in and BAM they only take Bitcoin now... I got quite angry trying to figure out how to use Bitcoin that I just gave up... I'm still trying to figure it out, and when I do it seems I have to wait FOREVER for some confirmation emails.... Sigh, anyone up to posting a back page for me and I'll send you some money via e transfer?..... I'm still very confused about bitcoin and I don't have a bitcoin atm where I am :(
I'm sure you could find help from someone here, be it a tech savvy client or a fellow SP to help you set yourself up with a bitcoin account. As far as bitcoin ATMs not being locally available, depends how far you have to go to get access to one. Might still be worth it if BP is half your clientele.
