I am sceptical about applying the behaviour of a worm to the study of humans.
Richard Dawkins and Matt Ridley have written about the different survival strategies of males and females.
Females have a very limited supply of reproductive material (eggs) and reproduction for them is a very long and difficult process. Even after the baby is born, they must attend to its needs for years. So they need to be very careful when selecting a reproductive partner. Female humans have limited chances to reproduce so they have to make the most of them.
Males have a limitless supply of sperm. Once the sex act is over they have no further biological involvement. The best strategy for them male genome is to impregnate as many females as possible in the hope that a few will prosper and the gene line will be passed on. This is seen in lions where a male will have his own group of females, and offspring of other males are killed. This ensures his gene line dominates.
We are robots, constructed by our genes for their benefit, not ours.

I think many of us feel the same way about women... some enigmatic and confusing...Some days I have the illusion I almost have men completely figured out but suddenly something will happen, it's like the universe has to remind me of the truth that I really have no fucking clue.

And I have to agree with the premises.
The behavior of the members of these boards is a good example of proof.
I personal have been a bachelor all my lif ..and all though I have not been that active with the opposite sex..my attraction is to the open minded and open relationship. .
Though at the same time I have been willin on a number of occasions to want to settle down and provide for one person..until I found they were not content with me ..are me providing ..
I then found some one else very quickly ..mining for my own satisfaction. . But again Found a willingness to provide.
having multable relationship and providing in some way for each was .less stressful then trying to hang on to one ..or being unsatisfied in that one relationship.
Of course this has to be quantified. They were all escorts I met as a client...but went on to see socially and I also was not that young ..so it all has to do with how these relationship progressed and eventually ended.
Of course I still am influenced by social norms.and I feel guilt even when having friends that are escort ..and there really is mot any on going relationship. But if I consider and plan to see some one new ..I feel 8 should not ..but put more energy it to trying to see the one I know ...I feel I am cheating ..even though it sound l8ke my foolishness. ...You will find that many escort act l8ke their clients are cheating .on them .when they here that have seen some other girl ..especially if they read a review post by the client ..

Just because it's limitless doesn't mean those sperm can necessarily get any women pregnant!
Then there are the risks such as Down's syndrome, chromosomal problems and more...
