The recent ad nauseum back and forths on the "Saddam is dead" thread got me wondering about a question asked there...namely "Why are you on this board?" Often the discussions have nothing to do with escorts or the business.
I like the fact that even the dumb asses here are usually reasonably articulate, are adults (sometimes the behaviour makes me wonder, though) and the topics are wide-ranging. There is a wealth of experience and information and the politcal debates are lively.

Even though the "main topic" on this forum is escorting, there are a plethora of other topics to choose from on a daily basis. Thats why I'm here! (Well, that and for the hotties!)

I use the Lounge to help kill time while waiting for new reviews. It's a nice place to hang out with like minded people, even if it is to talk about non-hobby discussions.

As I'm fond to say, for me it all started with cheese!

I stumbled across PERB searching for SP reviews and hadn't posted much until there was a thread in the lounge about the difference in quality and cost of cheese in western Canada vs. the east. I chimed in with a comment about this is an SP review site and why in the hell were people talking about curdled milk products. I was quickly called out by a few folks (only one I remember was the departed (not dead, just not on PERB anymore) dufferin) that the lounge was a perfect place to discuss such topics. I quickly realized that he was speaking the truth and the rest is as they say history.

For a number of reasons that I won't go into I don't poon much anymore. Maybe a couple or three times a year and as hitrack recently mentioned I've done my share of reviews as hifi so don't any time posting on my exploits.

As for why I continue to post in the lounge, simple really. I enjoy the very broad base of opinions, backgrounds and knowledge. Seriously, take a look at the first page of the lounge on any time of the day or day of the week and see the variety of topics being discussed. As long as I continue to have fun posting in the lounge I'll stick around. When the carousel stops I'll get off.

I find pooning to be much less a "hobby" then it is a temporary search for something exciting that more often than not ends up boring. If it's really awful, I just end up regretting spending the money.

However, the wide ranging discussions on this board are often far more entertaining than pooning itself. Sometimes even the reviews are entertaining. I seldom get a chance to discuss politics because my job and relationships (with women - who are usually shitty at talking about politics) keep me too busy.

I like a wide ranging number of view points even if they are just wrong. I prefer the sincere points of view, or the ones that have taken at least some degree of researching the facts before expressing opinion, or the ones who post who earnestly are open minded. I like hearing an intellectualized female viewpoint, but unfortunately those are seldom expressed. I like to challenge people's ideas, often taking a devil's advocate position. I like to have my ideas challenged as well, instead of merely opposed.

What bothers me is when people take emotional offense to what I say about something not targetted at them specifically; they often then reply to me with offensive words and insults. This is quite unnecessary, especially since all it is is an internet discussion.

No shit. People need to chill the fuck out. Don't take shit so seriously around here. It's the fucking internet and you have no idea who the fucktard is saying shit, so there is no point getting all emotional about shit.

I like the Lounge because we can post shit here that would get us banned at most other internet sites. And it's relatively local stuff too because just trying to discuss Canadian issues on most sites (dominated by Americans or Europeans) is met with ignorance.

The diverse opinions expressed in the Lounge continue to draw my interest… often the divide between opposing viewpoints is bridged with more moderate discussion where I’ve had opportunities to appreciate… and learn… from those with a different perspective. If a discussion has a strict political basis you will have an opportunity within this board to read opposing viewpoints directly… something that isn’t particularly available on many ‘purely politically’ slanted boards… simply because those boards invariably lean strongly towards one political camp drawing only like-minded participation. And yes, an intellectualized female viewpoint is appreciated and should be encouraged…

Some of the Lounge is nothing but fluff – and often provides a needed diversion.

… and yes, there is a clear distinction between challenge and opposition… case in point, the impetus to this very thread.

Since I've been seeing the same SP for a while now, I don't come here for the reviews, though I do read them now and again to satisfy my prurient interests. When I stop having those, I'll know it's time to do a swan dive off the Golden Gate Bridge.

My main interest in coming to perb is the diverse range of topics, opinion and debate to be found in the Lounge. When the debate doesn't deteriorate into a "yo mama!" type of idiocy (which, alas, it frequently does), it is usually informing, interesting and intelligent (often surprisingly so), not to mention entertaining.

all of the above,

but mainly after years in academic settings where
PC was the norm, I appreciate being able to express views
that are controversial, to question the 'norms', and to have
some fun with humour (for those who actually understand it):
i think some people got a kick out of my 'damn neighbours'
series ... and where else can you do this?

and where else can you ask a stupid question and get
a reasonable answer without feeling embarrassed about it?

even the pizza delivery trolls can be amusing ...
