Now that I've got your attention... :)

There are already tents being pitched and lawn chairs being placed for the Friday 8 AM launch of the Playstation 3 at Best Buy and Future Shop.

I was at Metrotown Futureshop around 5:30 PM yesterday and there were already 8 people camped outside. Considering there's still 26 hours until launch, I checked around and noted every Best Buy and Future Shop now has long lines.

Around 30 people at the Cambie BB, 20 people or more at Broadway FS. 20 people at Landsdowne BB and FS, 15 people at Bridgeport FS, 20 or more at Queensborough BB.

Tomorrow morning, campers will be at the Grandview and Marine Drive Superstores. Don't bother lining up at Sony Style, Toys R' Us, or Electronic Boutique. They're not selling on the spot. Zellars may have 1 or 2 if you're lucky.

If you don't know what the craze is about, go to www.ebay.ca and put in playstation 3 in the search bar.

I sold my XBox360 package here on PERB for $650 earlier this year, but I don't think I can get my hands on an initial launch PS3.

So is this PS3 hysteria a contrarian indicator that the d/town condo market will finally slow to a crawl? :D

Meh, I waited a few months before getting my 360 and a game that I couldn't live without. I'll do the same for the PS3, though I'm sure I'll be waiting a lot longer for a PS3 exclusive game that I can't live without.

Now that the 360 has an HD-DVD attachment, it's really becoming central in my media centre. I'd already set it up to stream movies and music, but HD for $200 isn't a bad attachment.

I can't understand the hype. Now some idiot is advertising these for sale on Perb for $1000 each. I guess the real idiots are the ones paying that price.

hmmm - so - not being a gamer - I don't understand - HUGE ad in the Sun today from future shop saying that each store would have e minimim of 10 playstations...... seems long odds if your 15th in line and sleeping out on the sidewalk.

as necko says - it is just a game... and definately something most rational people could live without for at least a few weeks..... heck I lived without fax and email most of my life!@

Cheers

I'm to used to PC gaming. Just doesn't feel right if you don't have to curse and shit on your gaming rig in order to get a game to play.

I took this at 4:30 PM today. Most of the people here were lining up since 4 PM Wednesday. Remember, door open for the PS3 on 8 AM FRIDAY!

Every single FutureShop, Best Buy, Real Canadian Superstore, and London Drugs are all camped out now.

Two of the people in this line up are homeless people. Woman and a man in scruffy dirty clothing and cardboard box shelter. They were hired by someone to line up for them. I wanted to take a closer picture, but the homeless guy told me to fuck off. :D

Will do anything for a PS3 x amount of times ("x" to be negotiated, not infinitly of course). I am a BBW but believe me, it's worth it. Drop me a line, serious inquiries only. Will consider exchanging services to borrow PS3 as well.
