Makhno has hit on one of the keys to the Canucks success. Bertuzzi definately has trouble controlling his temper and has a tendency to take dumb penalties at inopportune times. Image what a the difference the physical presence of Bertuzzi would have made in this series, especially if he controlled his temper and didn't take bad penalties. Bertuzzi should get some anger management training to teach him how to channel his anger in a more productive manner.

Having Bertuzzi in the lineup also relates to LAGs comment on getting rid of the Sedins. Since Crawford double shifts Bert alot so he can play with the Sedins I feel that the absence of Bertuzzi hurt not only the top line but the second line as well. Burke shouldn't have let Trent Klatt go in the off season last year. He wouldn't have replaced Bertuzzi's offensive skill but a his big physical presence up front would have taken the sting out of losing Bertuzzi's presence somewhat.

The goaltending situation is a difficult one. Like Jackfrost points out in the regular season Cloutier is one of the two best goaltenders in the league over the last 3 years. Considering how close many teams are in the standings you take away some of Cloutier's regular season wins and perhaps the Canucks end up seeded much lower or don't even make the playoffs. Also the jury is still out on whether Cloutier can develop into a good playoff goalie. If you get rid of Cloutier, who do you bring in that has proven they can take you to the finals. It isn't like the supply of superstar goalies exceeds the demand and the teams that already have these goalies tend to hang onto them. I think that the idea of a goaltending tandem rather than Cloutier as number one and a backup may be a good one. Even though Cloutier is a good goaltender he has also shown himself to be injury prone. Perhaps Alex Auld is ready to come up and share the goaltending duties with Cloutier.

Alex Auld and Cloutier sharing goaltending duties is a great start to next season. Trade for 2 stay at home defensemen, get Bert back in the lineup and trade for 2 power forwards. This years team relied on a defenseman joining the offense too often! Crawford should look up who coached the Calgary junior teams in the 70's as they had a variety of systems on how to move the puck up ice when they played the New West Bruins. The Bruins tried unsuccessfully to plug up the neutral zone. The Canucks have a problem moving the puck through the neutral zone.

Ok for years I have been hearing of the 'bad luck' because we built GM PLACE between 2 bridges...any opinions on this?
Nah its our darn moderate west coast weather. How can we expect our hockey players to win a Stanley Cup when they are all thinking of getting outside and golfing. ;) You can't blame the building, after all the Canucks post season futility began long before they moved into GM Place.

Unsigned.

What could the Canucks get for the Sedins and Cloutier, considering that they would be trying to trade their unsigned players for whoever?

Goaltending.

The banged up Leafs didn't have Sundin or Owen Nolan and they still beat the younger, fasters, more talented Senators. The Senators must have outshot the Leafs around 250 to 150.
But Belfour got 3 shutouts and had another game in which he only allowed one goal.
But playoff calibre goalies do not come cheap. Who's out there?
