Elephant Man, Alien, Dr. Who. And so many more roles for this magnificent actor.
Wonderful that John Hurt received kudos during his life, not just upon his lamented passing.

also "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy", "Ven for Vendetta", and others. Yeah, a real shame.

Have not province
What was the movie where he was imprisoned and tortured? I still remember this single scene where the torturer snapped his front tooth off. He must have weighed 100 pounds in that scene.

R I P John Hurt

So many great performances over many years from John Hurt

I always like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy both as a book and how it was portrayed in the film.

He did well to live so long after having his chest explode.

Greatest scene ever. Still remember everyone in the cinema gasping!

Let's not forget that beautifully cranky aged face that went with that voice.

The older he got the better he became....like fine wine. In my opinion.
My personal favorites Hellboy, Melancholia,Rob Roy, The Proposition, 1984, his voice work for Watership Down, Krapp's Last Tape and of of course Alien.

Cancer has taken another soul from this world.
