Well they closed down all the others in Coquitlam except one. I had an interesting conversation the other day with a city councillor at Coquitlam. Turns out they closed Ocean because it was getting too much attention, and it was the principal one they wanted shut down. They had made a mistake by granting it a license where it was - it was too close to Coquitlam centre and the area was too high profile and it got more traffic than they and the neighboring business were comfortable with. Not only that, sleazy dressed girls would sometimes go outside (this was a complaint of the old "New Age" as well). Now the jurisdiction has increased license fees to somewhere around $20K per year in order to deter more from opening. I asked why they left one open if they were so displeased with having them around, and they said that if they don't have one open, they would be sued under federal law that would permit them to open such establishments (didn't go into detail which law, sorry). It is also the reason why they don't increase fees to $200K because it would be seen as deterring from having the right under fed law. I asked if the other municipalities were going to do the same, and she said that they looked upon Coquitlam as a model as the entire region is under pressure from many sides to clean up. I didn't bother to ask who is putting pressure on the municipalities to close them as I wanted to save her and myself the embarrassment of having to name them.

Yah Ocean had some bad publicity in the past with few problems
giving them unnecessary exposure to LE.
Same went for "New age" or was originally known as Ultimate Shiatsu.

There was an apparent drive by shooting at that place and girls were seen sitting outside all the time smoking cigarettes and attracting unwanted attention. To bad these problems had to happen as they had a lot of complaints over time.
Maybe they'd still be open today.

New age was where I first met Lily. She was gorgeous!
