VANCOUVER — Police say two women have been arrested as part of a bawdy-house investigation on East Hastings Street.
The arrests followed a lengthy investigation into “ISHQ” — a so-called “health-enhancement” centre in the 3600-block East Hastings whose website features scantily clad models and advertises “secret playmates” who are “attentive and open minded,” have “impeccable hygiene” and who “go the extra mile to ensure your demands are fulfilled.”
Const. Lindsey Houghton said police believe sexual services were being exchanged for money.
Vice investigators obtained a search warrant and seized several pieces of evidence, including computers and cash, on Sept. 30.
Charged with a number of prostitution-related offences are the owner, Jasmine Mangat, a 32-year-old Surrey resident, and Vanessa Alejandrina Hernandez, a 30-year-old Vancouver resident and manager of the centre.
Both women are charged with one count of keeping a common bawdy house, one count of living on the avails of prostitution, and one count of procuring a person into the sex trade.
