Is it my imagination? A significant number of SP's that used to be advertisers here don't seem to be any more.

why pay when you can get it for free?

Unless Fred decides to disable the pm function for non-paid subscribers, there's not much point beyond a tip of the hat to perb to pay.

Still advertising??

Not sure if the mods do clean-up on the profiles once they ban an Advertiser, as I noticed some of them have links to their web site, maybe that would also be a good idea. Maybe even once a advertiser has been banned for life, change their handle to "Banned Member" and remove all advertising posts.

my example would be....

I don't know if thats a good idea. If someone has paid for advertising for 1 week, then the advertising they do shouldn't be removed from the forums as they paid for that advert and it was made on that day.
Paul, I think you missed something important.. "Banned for life"

As I am sure that would be more trouble for the Mod's, so obviously it would not make much sence unless it was for permanent bans. If a member gets banned for something else, then let the ads continue until their term/payment runs out.

This way it gives the advertisers an incentive to advertise more regulary.

Regarding advertising on the web, it doesn't work like print advertising. You pay for traffic at a certain point in time, once your ad time is done, your normally no longer viewable, so unless stated, you can't think your ad will be permanent.

Ah, but some of us paid and it took ages to find ourselves in the red letters. Might be that they simply haven't processed the payments yet.

Ahhhh. The email address I gave ya worked? Glad to see ya made it to red.

On another note. The point mentioned earlier about disabling PM's for non paid advertisers is a good idea. Wasn't it just a week or two abo, one SP came on and said "I'm going to get in trouble for advertising, but oh well." Pretty much a slap in the face to the system and procedures of the board. I'm still seeing URL's and email address's in non paid advertisers signatures as well. Of course the mods can't keep up. It comes and goes. But if non-paid SP's are limited, at least it's a step. It's not fair to those who pay to have non-paid advertisers punk out and advertise free. It's not like the advertising costs are going to break you. Unless you see one person a month for $50, then the advertising budget might be a little tight.
