Hi there,

Just curious, but in the past two weeks I had the "square" part of my charger not work for my iphone to be charged. Now, I have another "square" and it has stopped charging as well. Soooooo, I started charging off my computer with no square thing and now it has stopped charging all together. I am curious as to whether this is a common thing to happen after a certain amount of time owning an iphone or is this abnormal. I thought abnormal until it didn't even charge from my computer and have had to rely on my previous ways of communication.

Has anybody else experienced this???? I am going asap to buy a new whatever the heck I need to keep a charge on my phone but..... what the heck?? I am SUPER careful with my phone, never dropped etc. Has anybody else experienced this? I am going to inquire about my warranted/covered time as I wonder if this is all conveniently timed with the end of the warranty.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!! I'm with Rogers FYI

Thanks!

I'm confused to what you mean by the "swuare" part. But maybe try checking for lint inside the USB port of your phone.

the part that is attached to the USB that adapts it to a regular wall socket - does that make sense?

I know what your talking about, the wall adapter. There is a chance there is an issue with the cord itself since it's not charging on the computer either. I would take it into Rogers or even head to the Apple Store in Polo Park to have them check it out, both places can test it out with a cord of their own.

I'd have to agree with the last post, you've probably got a kink in the wire! Happened to me once, if you have a friend with an iPhone try charging with there's

Do you know someone with the same phone who would let you try their charger to see if is your USB cable or wall adapter that is faulty? it could be the cable that is faulty. Apple is famous for requiring different chargers for different models so it might be best to take it to a store to test it. Take the phone and charger.
The Source has 3rd party cables for $15 oe cables made by Apple for $29.95 or $39.95. They all work the same. Wall adapters are around 39.95.

Change the battery, oh wait a minute, you can't do that with an iPhone!! Such a design flaw, or a design to make you pay to have it fixed or buy a new one.
You might want to consider going with the number one operating system in the world and that would be Android by a country mile.
Android worldwide market share 75.3%
Apple iOS worldwide market share 16.9%
End of 2013 stats.

While that may be true I have never seen someone camp out for the chance to buy an an android. Iphone has driven the market. I like Andriod too but make no mistake who has been dictating where smart phones are going when it come to camera, processor and apps...While you are right that android has a strangle hold on the world market as a whole they do not on the key markets. Just look at all the apps that are only available on Iphone. These developers aren't crazy if there was money in developing android apps they would be doing it

It might be the charging port on the phone. Mine has been doing the same thing, except if I adjust the pin a little bit, it starts charging. Try it out. If that pin is the issue it might be time for a new phone. I've had mine for almost 3 years now and it's been dropped and roughed up pretty good, so I kinda saw this coming.

a fiend of mine had the same problem with his 5s. he had the extra warranty so he took it in to the shop. ibuddy had a look at it, did a few tests, then with some handy dandy tool he pulled all the pocket lint out of the socket. it's worked fine since

I like it when vancity_cowboy calls me on my iPhone and proceeds to talk dirty to me until I can't take anymore and then 'explode'.

Well since it is not working off your computer or the AC jack I am assuming you have somehow shorted your cable. This is quite common and is probably one of the biggest complaints about Apple products. Go to any store and buy the new cable and you might as well get the AC Jack while you are at it.

I just recently had to replace my iPhone 5 car charger because the connector to the phone Called a Lightning connector somehow stopped working. When you disconnect it from the phone you really have to hold the actual connector and not just pull on the cable. These damn things are delicate.

Batteries and cables are the real money maker for Apple IMHO. I must have a drawer full of connectors, adapters, cables and external batteries to keep my iPhone and iPad running daily.

ugh blah android, the absolute worst phone I've ever owned (and I've owed a few). Because of android, I'm now a true blue iPhone user. Don't get me started ugh.

My hugest complaint with iPhone though is battery and delicacy

Android is way better for battery.

You can change the iPhone battery by taking it into an apple store

I still after all that prefer an iPhone lol

is your charger original or aftermarket? did you buy it used? apple chargers tend to be good. however, aftermarket cables and chargers may die or have issues with almost no use. buy direct from apple (you pay a lot more) and you get the one year warranty, if not mistaken.

and yes, iphone batteries are removable and they replace them at the apple store now. you can also pay one of those asian dudes who work at one of those portable kiosks or phone repair stores.

Bah, I just looked at my Apple dot Ca account and I have purchased five 2 m USB to Lightning cables from them in the past 12 months. Three have been returned in January but haven't seen a replacement yet??? On my to do list for tomorrow!

I should not have to emphasize how friken gentle I have been with these cables! Once, ok I learned my lesson, three times there is a quality problem.

Charger wise, IMHO Belkin rules here for both iPhone and iPad. Whether in the car or home I have had zero problems with Belkin.

By the way, the cord on my wall chargers (both 4 and 5) practically melted at one point, right where the cord meets the tip, before it connects to the 'square thingy'. I went to the Apple store and they replaced them, free of charge.
