Caught a comment on CBC regarding how the Province of Quebec interprets the "Green Shift" ... They call it "Green Shaft" . . . What a concept . . .:D

So regardless of whether one is a federal Liberal or a BC Liberal . . . the "shaft" is on . . . Somewhat surprising it hasn't caught on our here . . . must be all the Greens . . .

The Green Shift is actually a very good policy.

If you believe in environmental conservatism and global warming.

It would be the most effective way of reducing green house gas emmisions in Canada, and provided the revenue neutral aspect of collecting taxes, it would not cost the Canadian public any more money in taxes.

Far better then cap and trade, or CAFE like they have in the states for cars. It makes the decision to reduce energy usage a market based decision, making reducing energy usage a good economic choice, so that buying the high efficiency furnance would actually pay off rather then costing more overall

I agree that the carbon tax/income tax cut is good policy as well. Unfortunately, people don't seem to have the maturity to understand that if you are serious about doing something for the environment, then your going to have to make some tough decisions. And that a consumption tax increase/income tax cut can actually help you benefit financially while doing the right thing.
