Recently received a call from Telus Sales promising perks and better price than what I'm paying now with Shaw. New fiber optic lines, faster internet, 4 K High Def etc
Just wondering are you happy with your current provider? Have any of you recently switched to Telus? If so, are you happy? Glad you switched?
Anyone unhappy with Telus? Shaw? Telus offered $145 per month for internet, tv, home phone. Shaw at the moment: almost $200!!
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Are they introductory prices that increase after 3 or 6 months? They do have an advantage right now that they have laid their fibre all over. Shaw is still saying they will have fibre to the home but it's not there yet.

Also, if you covet your @shaw.ca email address you will lose it once you go to Telus.

Telus Rep offered $200 credit which would pay for first month and a half. $145 per month on a month to month basis, no contract. 5 cents per minute long distance calling within Canada/USA
3 high def boxes, one for each tv, He said the $145 would be the permanent charge per month. 30 day free trial offer, no penalty to cancel within trial time, Telus would contact Shaw
to inform them of the change. Good deal?? Those of you already with Telus, are you happy with the service?

I have always had a problem with telus especially their internet. If you use IMAP email you are ok but if you have your own domain and hosting and use POP3 email they block all the ports. They say to stop email spamming. So if I wanted to check and send email I had to run to Starbucks for wifi WTF. Not sure if its still the same but turned me off. Probably not as big of a problem these days because you can change your hosted domain to IMAP email but it was a pain at the time.

Never like their crazy high numbers for channels also. Shaw always seemed easier.

At the end of the day they are all rip-offs and way to expensive. Don't think modest cable and internet should be same price as modest car payment. Haven't had land line in years. Cell and VOIP.

Used Shaw for many years
As of now, I use Internet 150 and medium TV package for $110 monthly, normal price is around 180 monthly

Call Shaw customer loyalty/retention department, and they will reduce price for you if you said you will quit saw and go to Telus.

A lot of friends have talked about moving to Telus since with the new fibre optics lines. But Telus would not be able to offer me 110 per month for what I want. SO I will just stick with SHAW and Internet 150 is good enough.

I am always leery about telus. Had their internet service under a contract. Moved to a place where they didnt offer the service and sent me for 300 bucks for the item I got for signing the contract. Been with shaw ever since.

Sorry man, but there's no such thing as permanent charge, since my 3 yr contract ended, they've already upped my rates once within the 1st year (due to increased cost to provide the best service possible to our customers, yadda yadda yadda). Don't get me wrong, their internet has been solid, way more stable then what i had with Shaw and Optik TV is pretty sweet. 2 months ago, i decided to drop their phone line because they would no longer offer my whopping $5 discount for having all 3 services bundled with them...so i jumped to Koodo where it's only $5/month for 1 year, then $20 after which is still cheaper then $30 telus was charging me. Hope that helps.

Sorry I just think that the service both Telus and Shaw can be cheaper... they hold you to a ransom, because you want the service. Telephone is cheap especially with voice over internet protocol.

Total different stuff with cell phones and 3G and 4G stuff.

It's been enabled by several past Federal Govt via the CRTC. Same with cell phone bills. They could be 60 - 75 % cheaper but the companies cry poor from all the infrastructure upgrades.

They all want more $ and are protected from US competitors.

Consumer pays top price always no matter which Govt is in power.
