Please note that you are posting on a Canadian board. As such, the world revolving around the US is less of a certainty up here.

However, if I were President, I'd take a long hard look at the people who were advising me, and fire them. I'd try to take a better look at what my policies had gotten me into, figure out where I wanted to go, and cut my losses on any policies that hadn't gotten me any closer to where I wanted to be.

And speaking as a person who just transited through the US, I can only say that:

1. Airport security, and the mental deficients who serve as security people at US airports, aren't bright enough to catch any terrorists. The way to ensure security is to have properly trained security specialists in the airports, not minimum wage police academy rejects manning the security check points and cameras. Security specialists will cost more than minimum wage, though.

2. While the threat of terrorism attacks is as real in Canada as it is in any other country, we still have a country to run. The point of the terrorist attacks was to disrupt everyday American life, and they have; nobody likes to travel any more, and non-business travel is still down. Major airlines have gone into bankruptcy protection, and a couple are on the verge. By those measures, the terrorists have already adversely affected US life, and their effects will be around for years to come.

What do you do about the terrorists all over the world? You build a proper intellegence network that delivers information that is accurate, and you train/find/get people who understand what the terrorist mind set is all about.

Muslim extremists want to do whatever they want to do, but the lighning rod for all of their anger is the US.

What you personally ought to think about doing is trying to figure out what the world is about; not by watching CNN or FOX news, but by lwatching the BBC World News, perhaps the CBC, and some of the European news sources. At least these news stations do not serve as mouthpieces for the US government.

I hope this doesn't read as being angry, its just that so much of the US media is owned by the conservatives, with no dissention, that it has become very easy for the US Public to be lead around by the nose, and it has been.

For those who missed "the good old days" when he was still in power they are welcome to stay, the ones that are happy with the improvement the US has made they can leave with the Americans, British, etc. Once we have people where we want them you napalm the ever loving shit out of that cat box of a country. Once the fire is out and the pests have been taken care of let the Iraq's who left go home. Problem solved.

So far I've been fairly restrained in what I would do if I was Prez, the following may offend some people. The governments of these countries need to lay down a net and round up each an every asshole (and I don't care if they are Muslim, Christian, Jew or Pagan) who wishes to exercise significant injury or destruction. Once you've got them send them to Iraq before we vaporize the landscape

Well, as there are indeed MANY issues you bring up here there are MANY solutions. However, most of these issues didn't evolve overnight so overnight solutions do not exist either.

As a start, if I were President, I would:

1. Stop listening to the Jewish lobby and recognize Palenstine.

2. Ban ANY American company from selling arms offshore.

3. Stop lying that it isn't about the oil. Be honest. It is all about the oil! Work to get country to lessen dependancy on oil - they can see impact of reliance now.

4. Stop being so bloody politically correct about ridding the world of evil. Thirty years ago, finding a 6'5" crippled millionaire with a need for ongoing kidney dialysis who's face is more recognizable than the Pope CANNOT BE THAT HARD. Give the job to Arnold.

5. Ban baseball for five years - make someone who goes 5-8 with a 5.36 ERA and making 12 million a year try being a greeter at Walmart to learn why some think American's have too much swagger.

6. With baseball gone, institute Canadian Appreciation in all high schools and legislate hockey as the National sport.

7. Stop treating Canadians like criminals at the border. It is often the quiet friend who you don't think has much to offer that ends up being the most important when it REALLY matters.

8. Get the trade deficit down to zero. US debt threatens to turn the country into a third world country by end of current generation.

9. Teach world affairs in school so that my country actually understood the world is a great place and the US is only part of it - no the be all end all.

10. Work with the UN, do not step on it when it suits you.


Did I mention hockey?

That would be the first year of the first term. I would just be warming up......

If I were president of the U.S.A. I would stop messing in other peoples countries. If the U.S.A. wasn't over there meddling they wouldn't want to kill you. America has it's own problems it should be sorting out before it tries to 'fix' the rest of the world. I believe the continuing 'threat' of violence has caused countries such as Iran and N.Korea to find ways of defending themselves.

The reason nobody wants to attack Canada is that we don't mess in other countries affairs, unless asked.

That being said, it's kinda too late 'cause you're already in deep.

As for the middle east, as I have no ties to the oil companies I would focus on other energy sources and ease the reliance on middle east oil, eventually leading to a complete withdrawl. Let them kill each other off!!!!!!

As for N.Korea, I'll bet if you remove the (what is it 30000) troops from their border, and I'll bet they wouldn't feel as thretened. They might even peacefully agree to stop producing nukes.

I would then set an example for the world and dismantle all of the american WMD's(nukes etc.) and put pressure on all of the american allies to do the same(especially Israel)



Unfortunatley My beliefs would not get me many votes, as I believe America is full of Redneck bullies who believe their point of view is the only correct one and everyone else is either with them or against them.

Both sides need to be heard. Most countries in the West including Canada and US have already recognized that there should be a Palestinian State. Half the Israelis believe there should be too. The difficulty lies in how and when to make it happen.

Sorry bud if you read my post as anti-Semetic as I am not in any way. I did not, or do not, blame Jewish people....but the Jewish lobby in the US is ENORMOUS and has hurt the Middle East situation for more than 30 years.

......I REALLY like the idea that dittman has of putting the U.N. in Canada....it seems really strange to have it in the US yet the US give it little, if any, due process or respect.

WHile the US administration has many problems, one of the main problems they have is that they have lost the handle on American based multi-national corporations. The way they treat people in other countries reflects on the American Leadership. People growing up and living in most Asian countries do not distinguish between a private corporation or a government. To them, they are one and the same. If I were POTUS, American based companies would toe the line, or I would round up the Board of Directors and CEOs and have them publicly executed.

No problem Howee. It's just to single out the Jewish lobby in the US as being detremental to the situation in the middle east for the past 30 years creates prejudice in the minds of people who may not be familiar with 2000 years of history.

There are many many problems in the mid east stemming from all sorts of contributing factors. Religion, religious intolerance, greed and wealth in the hands of so few, regimes that have historically been backed or colonized by the British, the US, Russia, France and Germany-- not to mention hostilities that exist between the many different Arab nations.

Without a doubt the Jewish lobby for Israel is very powerful in the US. Yes, Israel is an ally to the US in a very oil rich part of the world. And militarily very strategic. Lets not forget that until the very late eighties the Libyan & Syrian ( just to mention a couple) airforces were flying MIGs ( not American F-15s ) .

In some ways its a real shithole. A very complex shithole.
