Stock markets around the world are crumbling it seems...

I have 40% exposure to equities and thankfully not more...

If the markets drop another 10 to 15% I will start buying ...

So how much have you lost on paper in the last week?

Do SP's notice a change in demand when the markets crumble?

At my workplace its matters to hardly anyone, they are clipping coupons to take to Wal mart to buy pet food. Stocks? wtf is that. I've got to get out of that Tukwila business park ghetto here in seattle.

Stocks are like sex.

Up and down, up and down.

But with sex, you don't have to be a genius to know when to pull out.

I do not think right now is a good time to have money in stocks - the US economy is going to take a HUGE nosedive in the next couple of years.

2 Factors - housing crash and the growing concern about our reliance on oil and gas.

The US economy is goign to be hit by a double whammy, recession and oil and gas prices going through the roof.

So what will be a good investment in the coming years?

Markets go up and down over time. We're all getting hit hard here. I've got quite abit in stocks as well. I'll wait for the dust to settle before I start to buy again. NEVER CATCH A FALLING KNIFE as they say. LOL.
In my case I'm many many years away from retirement so I'm not worried. I don't play the buy and sell game. I profit take when needed but I don't freak out on days like this and sell everythign. Thats a losing mans game. You'll never make money that way. You'll pay tax, comission etc. Buy and hold good solid companies that pay dividends and stay diversified in all sectors. Markets always come back in time. Don't forget the last several years we've had way better than stellar returns. It's time for natural correction or pullback.

Now I'm waiting for the Vancouver Real estate to pull back now or soon.:D :D

good luck!

the last real estate up-surge was due to 1. demand, 2. interest rates
and 3. stock market crash ...

all that money had to go somewhere and it went into real estate!

If there is a correction it won't be much and it will mainly hit the
marginal properties ... those $600K+ 400 sf condos will be the ones
that are worth less ...

a decent house at a decent price will still command a lot of money ...

the only diff may be there won't be bidding wars ...

The other thing is that there just hasn't been the speculation around
here like in the US ... everyone was buying everything on spec rates ...

around here, most people own their home and not much else ...

I haven't sold any stocks, so I haven't lost anything, except on paper. But all my gains were on paper too.

Guess I'll just keep on working for a living.

Your right but nothing goes up in a straight line. Every investment machine has a pullback at one time or another. I don't care what it is. There's undervalue, value and overvalue and everything falls into these categories sooner or later. To have higher highs long term you have to have pullbacks. Thats what keeps the machine going.

And at least it feels good just before it crashes.
