I tried today to contact a travel SP for a visit. after all the conversation, she asked me if I have reference from other SP, I said no, I am new to this also new to Winnipeg. Then she said no, no reference no service. I was laughing at myself because I remember that commercial on the tv all the time, called credit karma, I guess not only bank want to check your credit, SP wants to check you credit as well. I am not say they should not, better be safe than sorry, but if every SP doing this, newbies like me will be really hard get laid. On the other hand, what kind of reference she is asking for? maybe the SP I deal with not known by others? confusing now!

I've never bothered supplying a reference, but it does have me curious. Exactly how do they go about authenticating the reference? Does the reference have to be from someone they know? What about a referral from an ex wife or my mom? What information are they looking to obtain? If I take Jethro out for lunch would he be a suitable reference?

If Jethro says you go balls deep and he got paid, he might be a good reference. Just don't short change him, he knows how to count.
The truth is, it's scary out there for ladies meeting new clients. I've heard from a few less discerning ladies that I have seen and the horror stories they have told me. Everything from short changing the donation to all about physical abuse and leaving no donation behind. One lady was physically beaten and raped. I can understand why ladies request references.
How do they go about authenticating a reference? They do they're research. When I offer a reference, I don't give them the ladies cell number, I offer their website or ad so they can authenticate that they're real and they obtain the contact info from their ad.
You should also check with the lady you are using for a reference if she will do so. Otherwise you're wasted two peoples time.
While a reference may be difficult to obtain, especially if you are new to this and have not seen either many ladies or one lady a few times, the other thing that definitely helps is a good board presence.
While some people are better at pretending than others, we (experienced members) can usually get a pretty good idea of someone's personality from reading their posts on various subjects over time. Are they fair and honest with their reviews (even bad ones), are they respectful, are they intelligent, are they humourous, etc? Many ladies will also take this into account.
I know personally, that I have seen many ladies over the years without a reference from another SP but they saw me because I'm Jethro.

I'm thinking there is a great idea for an App in here, something like the feedback system for Uber. After a date both the provider and client can log in and leave feedback/ rating. I like Jethro's idea of using his Perb handle in lieu of a reference. Wondering how he proves he is Jethro; maybe send the provider a pm (assuming she is also a member) or log in to your account in front of her? Maybe he provides a graduation photo of himself with granny.

Obtaining a reference would require them to be willing, and for them to remember who I am. It's always a good idea to contact the provider you intend to use as your reference & remind her who, exactly, you are! I have been asked to provide references with no clue who is asking until I search my phone contacts. I much prefer if you send me an email that tells me who you are so that I can say something other than "I don't remember any reason why I wouldn't want to see him again!". The most recent reference I was asked to provide was from a long time client, & while I didn't have his most current phone number saved in my phone, he gave the lovely Ginger enough information that I was able to provide an A plus reference for him anyway! Just after Ginger reached out, the client himself contacted me & confirmed my suspicions, & I hope a fine time was had by all!

I'm also new to this community, but I have seen one SP regularly... but tomorrow will be seeing Lacey, and hopefully a few more! I'll have to start adding some reviews, I have yet to post one, seen her 3 times so far so I guess its time to post a review...

I think its a good idea but like a few others have said, which providers are adequate enough as references? But being active on the board helps and getting a foot in the door is a bit of a hurdle to overcome (meeting upperclass ladies), but its all worth it in the end!

It does take a little time to build a reputation as a pooner just as it does for a provider. It goes both ways. Just be respectful with the ladies you do see and be respectful on the boards and you will build a reputation. Like Jethro said, often times a lady will forgo the reference when she researches your board presence.
One other point, always confirm to a ladies booking requirements as she states on her website or ad. Read the entire ad and read every page on her website. If there is anything you cannot comply with, then move on. Ladies do not appreciate being contacted with questions that they have already posted on there site or ad. You may be blacklisted and blocked. They do appreciate the effort you put in by mentioning things from her ad that confirms you've actually read it.

It is tough for newbies getting into the hobby. My first time I was looking to see someone and had no references and, as expected, heard crickets. Did a polite follow up email and proved my identity when I heard back and we got to chat for a bit. I was quite nervous as well but everything went great and we’ve had several dates. I asked if she would be able to be a reference going forward and it wasn’t an issue. One led to two to three and so on. It also really helps to have great manners and better hygiene!
