Not sure what your definition of 'not that long ago' was, and where you typically find your Thai girls, But the gogo prices have been relatively stable in the last 10 yrs(only 4k baht to 5k baht) , while the exchange rate decreased against us ($1 cad from 37 baht to 25 baht) explaining the price rises. Everything and everywhere in the whole world has increased in price, no point mulling in hindsight.

If you don't mind old 30-40 YO Asian Milf types, they are readily available in Pattaya streets and beer bars for only $40-60 LT, some of which are still very attractive

No, I'm definitely talking in the last 10 years. Maybe 6 or 7 years ago last trip . Pattaya and Phuket. "Agencies" had young, beautiful girls. They would start out higher on price but settle on $400-$500 CDN for a full week of tour guide experience. In the bars you could find hot local girls that would go as low as $200 CDN for a week. Nothing like the bottom feeding trash you find in Canada. These were hot, nice girls.

I'm planning a trip to Thailand but I'm pretty sure people who knew me would be kind of suspicious if I off and went to Bangkok by myself for a couple weeks. Has anyone else had a similar situation? What did you tell people you were doing while you were there?

step 1, find a decently performing public company with office in vancouver, calgary, toronto, and project in thailand.
step 2, make an initial investment and call the CEO to describe the project to you
step 3, download all their business materials, recent corporate presentation, print out, read and mark up hard copies and leave these around the house, mention to your friends, co-workers
step 4, ask the CEO about analyst trips scheduled for that project, ask if you can tag along on the next trip
step 5, CEO will likely extend an invitation to next trip and, or, invite to visit if and when you are in that part of the world
step 6, accept invitation, you now have a plausible business excuse to go to thailand

normally if they think you might be a serious investor they will pay your way for a site visit if you pay to get to the country

if it is an analyst trip they will have a charter plane setup for the analysts, cost of an additional person negligible

if you pick a decent company as well, you might make enough to cover the trip and more

while in thailand, make sure you visit the beaches and whatever else tickles your fancy

I have the perfect option for you. At the same time you go to Thailand you book me a vacation at an all inclusive in Mexico. While I am there I will log into your facebook and post all kinds of pictures around the resort. (without me in them of course) You take some selfies in your hotel in Thailand, send them to me and I will post them on your FB with my location in Mexico. Everyone will will think you are in Mexico and you are in the clear. I will make sure I do a "check in" on your FB couple times a day.

I just got back, I'm about to post some intel. I have enjoyed in Thailand for all of the following: the warm weather, a good beach to walk up and down, warm ocean for swimming, hotel with pool, two hours of fantastic massage a day for <$20, the great food, beer, gin and tonics, elephants, monkeys, and getting together with a woman who catches my eye, and I convince her to take a chance on me...not too difficult, getting shirts custom made, buying clothes. etc.

If you get asked a question just say you needed some time off and went quietly to a destination you are familiar with. That way you can respond to questions about it. Leave it at that.
