HNIC is boring

I used to enjoy watching Hockey Night In Canada but for the past few seasons especially this season I've been tuning them out. I'll almost guarantee to tune them out when Bob Cole is calling the games.

Why not make Jim Hughson call all the Stanley Cup finals games? They spent all the big bucks to get him. It'll definitely make it more watchable.

Have anyone of you watched the NHL on NBC telecasts? I always choose to watch NBC over CBC whenever they decide to do the same game. They do a very very good job with Mike Emrick calling the games with Pierre McGuire between the benches. Their high-definition quality is way better than HNIC's and they pick-up the crowd noise more than CBC does. CBC seems to attenuate the crowd noise so that we can hear Bob Coles' voice more clearly or something. Boring...

btw...I AM CANADIAN even though I'm ripping CBC.

Not so for me... I know Cole is getting old, but there's something about watching games with a familiar voice in the background. I can't stand watching games called by an alien announcer - especially on American TV.

I haven't been able to listen to Cole since him and Harry Neale were doing a Leafs/Canucks game in Vancouver and they kept calling Naslund "Mats" and mispronounced Bieksa's name.

Word is Hughson will call the Stanley Cup Finals next year

Watching game five I couldn't believe how bad Cole was, he seeing partial numbers on the back of the jersey so when Malkin was carrying the puck he said it was Stall, weak dude.

Just think if the Leafs were in the finals how good the commentary would be.

This year, for the very first time, HNIC was outdrawn by RDS (the French TSN outfit) for the Habs' playoffs games. That should tell you something about the state of HNIC. They should lure Dick Irvin, Jr. out of retirement and put Bob Cole to bed. Last night's game was way past his bedtime.
