Heineken has been my beer of choice for years. I saw a commercial last week for their new light beer, which apparently is only available in the U.S. Has anyone tried this yet? I'm curious how it is. And how it compares to regular Heineken.
Does anybody know if this is available in Bellingham? If it's as good as the regular brew, I'd drive down and load up the trunk for the summer.

A Light Beer from USA??? That's like sucking on a Benson & Hedges ultra-light and calling it smoking.

Heineken is an import from The Netherlands. The Yanks wouldn't have the balls to put that pisswater they try to pass off as beer into a green bottle.

Sure they would ... and it's called Rolling Rock! :D or as I call it during my college days ... Rolling Thunder from the hangover it causes after about 20 of those.

Heineken is alright ... I drink it as a backup in bars and clubs if they don't have the stuff I like. Why drink light beer when the regular is always better?

you should try:

Grolsh
Warsteiner
Beck's
Lowenbrau

instead of Heiniken ... its fine if its the other choice beside 'Bud' or similar US pisswater ... but there are some fine beers out there that are worth a sample!

I've been spoiled by Granville Island Lager. I just can't drink inferior beers after getting used to a really full bodied beer.

Grolsch has that neat stopper so you can reuse the bottle if you brew your own.

H.Lite is like H - to me, it's a bit too bitter still and light as water.

So I'm assuming that you've tried it then GBM? Thanks for the only reply to my question.

As for other beers, I never said there weren't other good brews out there. It's just because this is new that I raised the question.

Assume... no assumption needed - I answered your question directly - I tend to do that. And yes, I did but only half the bottle. I'm not a big fan of H as it is. I thought I'd try it cuz I like import beers and would give H another try since there was this new lite version. Anyhow, it turned out to have that same unique bitter H taste which I don't really care for.

Well, I finally couldn't take it anymore and headed down to Bellingham, bought 4 cases of the shit and came home. Lucky for me, it was on sale! 5 bills off per case, so I grabbed 4 cases. Duty came out to a buck a bottle. Total for the 4 cases all-in was 97.03. (ya, I actually figured it out). At 25 bills / case for the stuff here, I came out about even.
Anyhow, as for the taste, I guess GBM and I differ in our beer preferences, 'cause I luv this shit! Definitely lighter than regular H, absolutely no aftertaste, just a real 'clean' flavour. I didn't notice any bitterness, but maybe that's 'cause I'm used to drinkin' this stuff. Actually, it's real close to the regular beer, but seems to be missing that almost sour aftertaste that the regular beer has.
It's definitely the kind of beer that would hit the spot on a sweltering summer night. And that's about all I was hoping for. :D
