they dont necessarily bite. They feed on human flesh during the evening and you may not feel it. take the sheets off your bed and check under the seams of the mattress, that is where they hide. it will look like tiny black dots.

In my experience, at first you might see them late at night, the adults are like a quarter size of a dime. Then as they grow in number, you see them at earlier times, even in daylight. By then, you have a serious problem and you'll be lucky if you're living in an apartment and they ought to take care of it for you, but there's a lot you have to do too.
