Hey Bro..

Thats the first I've heard of it but if its true....they just chose other targets. You can't protect everything.

Sadly it spills to the rest of the world. 911, subway attacks in Madrid/Spain are just a few terrorist attacks based on religious beliefs. An eye for an eye or religion for religion way of fighting is just a vicious circle that never ends. Each side is going to try and one up the other and where does it end.

I came across a book a year or two ago called Revenge: A story of Hope by Laura Blumenfeld. Her father was shot in Jerusalem in 1986 by a rebel faction of the PLO and her quest to find answers to her questions. In that quest she got to live undercover with the family of the man that shot her dad. I think that this book gives insight to a possible solution to the problem of the MiddleEast/Israeli crisis. It may be a slow process but it has to start somewhere.

I personally have given up on attempting to follow the going on but do agree Curley, the children suffer greatly.

But it does effect us too... Nortel is down almost 50cents a share because of this!
Darn right it affect us!!!!

Stuff like this causes world instablity and we see the effects not only in the world markets but in our daily lives as well. The MiddleEast is the primary source of oil to the world and anything that would possibly affect its supply would cause prices to jump. The US oil reserves are below normal levels for this time of year and we see gas prices at the pumps climbing higher and higher. This effects transportation costs and we pay more at the supermarket as well.

Watch out if the US decides to send troops to "calm the region" and guarantee the flow of oil......

When that happens, prepare to hang it up. It's all over.

Where Islam, Christianity and Judaism started is where they are likely to end. And take us all down with it.

Before being declared a state Israeli terrorists conducted numerous bombings where innocents were killed. They did it to further their cause and justified it as so. What goes around comes around. Accusing both sides of being morons is hardly being politically correct. Many of the terrorists ended up as cabinet members - including Prime Minister - in the Israeli government. Sound familiar?

Well Put Cock Throppled!

Prior to the creation of the State of Israel in 1948 by the Belfour Accord that very contentious piece of land was called Palestine. I can hardly imagine what any of us would do if we woke up one morning to find Canada called something else with someone knocking on my door asking me to leave since it now belongs to them.

As far as senseless acts of Violence both parties are guilty of it. In fact to become eligible for a leadership position in either camp you have to pretty well have commited heinous terrorist acts (Yasser Arafat, Menachem Begin, Ariel Sharon etc etc).

Let me be clear that I am not taking sides on this as both are equally guilty and neither side has shown any commitment or leadership to finding a long lasting solution to this ongoing bloodshed.

Just my $0.02 worth!

It's been my theory that if there wasn't an Israel, the Arab world would create one - Israel is a very effective distraction for various oil economy countries where you have a stinking rich elite, and everybody else sucks wind.

As well, the whole area has a contentious past - most of the countries hate each other's guts, have differing interpretations of Islam, and would be blowing the shit out of each other if they didn't all conveniently hate Israel more.

And the creation of the state of Israel was a farce from the beginning - it ain't called the "twice-promised land" for nothin'.

Ask the British to explain that one.

Well One more post in this ... just a few words, names, places do some google searches and see what you find... Depending on who wrote the history you read you will get various views on all these. Sad reading but it gies you an idea how this started if you can figure out where the truth is from all this crap.

Haganah; Irgun; Lehi; al-Nakba; "Stern Gang"; "Deir Yassin"; "Folke Bernadotte"; PLO; Hamas

Read the latest news with statments from both sides and well what can you say... I don't care who wins hell nobody really can, you can only hope for the minimum destruction to everyone else...

Jesus OB nice thread :( sometimes real life sucks

Just to give you an idea how convulated everything is over there. I was once in Egypt taking a tour of Giza while my ship was transiting the Suez Canal. While on the bus, the Egyptian tour guide pointed out the area where "the brave Egyptian army finally turned back the Israeli Invaders". He was dead serious and there were the burned hulks of old tanks to prove it. Obviously, his history lessons were quite different from mine. It made me question some of the history lessons I received in school while growing up. But the point is that you can't even point to history to try and come to some kind of agreement because they and us don't even have that in common.

Michael Moore has done an amazing job explicating the fear instilled by popular media and government with respect to the right to bear arms in both Canada and the USA.

Go watch the movie... TWICE.

And then tell me how paranoid you are about getting bombed.
