Hi all,
I'm one of the organizers of this year's SlutWalk on June 30. Some of us are really trying to make it sex-work friendly this year, but are coming against sex-negative opposition on a lot of matters.
At the moment, there's some debate over the name. There are some valid criticisms against using the word "slut" in the title, but there are some very poignant reasons to keep it. I myself identify as a slut, and feel that marching under that banner reduces the negative power of the word.
Vote and say your piece at https://www.facebook.com/pages/SlutWalk-Vancouver/191681940868720 - the poll closes at midnight.
As well, let me know if there's someone in your network who would like to get involved or speak for a few minutes. You can get in touch with me at volpinavance@gmail.com, or the team at slutwalkvancouver@gmail.com.
Thanks!
