It seems that PERB is a treasure trove of info, so I thought someone might be able to help me with a task that has been thrust upon me.

My partner has been bugging me to get the carpet cleaned. I tried doing it myself about 5 years ago and really mucked up the job. We had Sears in about 2 years ago but had to pretty much throw the guy out. All he was interested in was selling us all the "extras"!

Does anyone know of a good carpet cleaning firm in West Vancouver?

Get yourself the Bissell PROHEAT carpet cleaner.

On board heater heats up the water better than what you get out of the tap. Works very well.

And then impose a NO SHOES policy.

I don't know.....I think the machine I tried to use before was a Bissell. Way to much of a hassle - I'd rather pay someone to do it.

If at all possible, get the truck mount. The carpet will stay cleaner, longer with better stain removal than the back pack type. Also, as an aside, Folex is in my opinion the best spot remover I've used.

No shoes is a great policy, as is ALWAYS slippers or at least socks. Apparently the oil in your skin discolours carpet and wood flooring more than you would think.

Hey scubadude I hear you about carpet cleaning companies.
I had High Quality Carpet Cleaning do my carpets in September.
Front person on the phone was courteous and helpful about services and prices. So I booked an appoinment for the morning as I had business in the afternoon to take care of and told them of this fact.
Carpet cleaner calls up at 11:00 AM to say he is running late will be over in about a hour.
Should have cancelled right then and there but I already moved furniture out of harms way where I could. So I arranged for girlfriend to look after things while I was out. Cleaner did not show up till 2:00 pm so they had no intention of showing up at all for my booked AM appoinment. The bastard then puts a couple of dents in the wall and hid it by moving furniture back to hide it.
Proceeds to over spray the scotch guard on the tile and hardwood flooring. Got run around after I called about the crappy service I got. I will never use these bastard again or recommend them to anyone cause they sure did did not live up to there name.

Funny. I have two neighbors that had Coit and found the opposite. They apparently sent a slick sales reptile first and one of my neighbor's ended up paying something like $400 to clean 4 rooms. To boot, they marked up his baseboards, were about 2 hours late and all the spots came back after it dried.

I find, quite often that the big firms kinda lose that sense of customer service and commitment to good work that you find with owner operators or small local firms. Anyone had any luck with a smaller firm, locally based?

The problem with a bigger company like COIT is that you never know what crew or employee you will get at your house. Your neighbours could have had great experiences but when you book them the company could send out a bozo who just started there and is clueless.

If you go with the smaller owner/operator type company, if you get a referal then chances are you will have the exact same person cleaning your carpets and are more assured as to what to expect. Same goes for things like house painting and the like.

Nationwide Carpet Cleaning.

But really, it doesn't matter who you book as long as you ask for Double Rinse. Spots and stains come back if there is too much detergent. The stains absoorb all the solution and make it easier for the new dirt to stick to it making it a bigger mess than before.

I had an Industrial Carpet Salesman as a client.
