Wondering if the nurse (or anyone else) could comment on the risks of generic Viagra. I know it is best to go to Doc and get a prescription, but I live in tiny town where both the two Docs are in same social circle, and while both are professional, things do have a strange way of spreading in a small town. I'm early 40's, and no problem getting hard with steady girlfriends, but things seem less certain with an SP. Had it checked out years ago when I lived in city, and Doc assured me it was mental. Which is fine, but I hate to blow the cost of a session, so viagra is a bit of insurance for me.

In my situation, it is much easier to just order some generic viagra from a fellow I met on this board. But before I do, thought I would check what I might be getting into.

Hi bobber

The two main risks I would be concerned about are:

(1) If you are ordering generic Viagra over the internet there is no way to ensure that it is Viagra. It could contain chemicals that are harmful to you. Getting medication from a licensed pharmacy in Canada is the only way to ensure that your getting the correct medication that is written on the pill/packet.

(2) If you have an underlying health condition or take medication that could make Viagra harmful for you. This is why you need a prescription to get Viagra.

I have checked with the Canadian online pharmacies and they can mail people the medication but they still need a doctors prescription before they are able to do this.

I can see your dilemma especially living in a small town.

From what you have written it sounds like you have had some erection difficulties with SP's/ casual partners in the past. This is common and does not indicate that you have a problem. Things such as feeling tired, stressed, anxious, being nervous, new partner etc... Can affect a man's ability to get an erection. I can understand that after paying a good sum of money for an SP you would like to ensure you have no problems during the session.

I have spoken with our clinic doctors about this situation and they have given me a few suggestions. If you have a doctor in a different city it may be possible for them to give your local pharmacy a prescription over the phone. It would really depend on the relationship you have with that doctor.

Another option is to go to a walk in clinic in a nearby town and get a prescription from there. You don't have to tell the doctor about the SP just that you have a new partner and that this has been a problem in the past.

Some doctors will prescribe Viagra easier than others. It can be a dilemma for doctors as they are only able to give the medication for a problem. If they give Viagra to someone without an erection problem and that person has a serious side effect from the medication the doctor can be in a lot of trouble.

Another thing I have noticed with Viagra is that you need to be careful with any "recreational" drugs you take like E, cocaine, crystal meth etc... I have seen men come to the clinic with high risk activity for STI/HIV. Being “high” and having the ability to get multiple erections can be a bad combination for STI/HIV.
