before I start I would like to apologize upfront for my lacking in the grammar and punctuation department.....i was never really good in english class.....the last 10 months if it wasn't for bad luck i'd have no luck at all.....in April of last year i was let go from my place of employment over the phone on the way to a psychiatrist appointment(classy).....i decided to try going into business for m self and to date its slowly gaining traction but haven't made any money yet in the mean time i'm looking for work applying for everything i think i'm qualified for and even some i'm not qualified for cause you never know...but nothing no acknowledgment no interviews nada.....in August i was rushed into the hospital and had major surgery having parts of my colon and bladder removed.......I was never the most confident guy in the world but now with the colostomy bag i'm even less......i've thought about finding an sp but i'm always afraid when i'm up front with my condition that they wont want to see me......recently a couple weeks ago i had a T.I.A or a mini stroke.......and today i found out i have nodules on my thyroid and they could possibly be cancer......through all this i lost my best friend in june to lung cancer and that was my dad......so like i said its one hell of a funk and if it wasnt for bad luck i'd have no luck at all.....

rant over.....

Newman: I've been there, thyroid nodules and all. I had an employer tell me 'thyroid's the best kind of cancer you can get'....asshat.

PM me if you'd like to talk, as I can talk knowledgeably about what you might be facing...The official name for the type of growth I had was a benign hyperplastic something or other...a fast growing noncancerous node. I also had a friend fight and win a battle with metastatic thyroid carcinoma. All is not lost.

Years ago I had a doctor tell me I had the best kind of cancer to get, when he confirmed the diagnosis. In hindsight, he may well have been correct, but somehow being told that you have the "best kind" of potentially life-altering disease isn't really what you want to hear when you're given the bad news. I think back now and laugh, but at the time I thought the doctor was a real jerk.

Certainly for an employer to make a comment like that is way out of line.

Newman, I wish you success in dealing with all of what you describe.

That's part of the reason I don't do that anymore...I told him in no uncertain terms that in MY body, there is no such thing as 'good cancer'.
