First time advice?

I hope I don't get flamed too badly for this... I am pretty sure I will try pooning for the first time in my life today, and my nerves are getting to me, and I have so many questions. Hopefully someone (I've seen a lot of nice posters on here) can answer me a few questions?
I tried search function, but all I could find for "first time" was "first time etiquette with a dom"... Not my cup of tea, that one...

I think for the first time I will be going to a micro... Do you pay the girl? or the mama/papasan? Before everything starts, or just as you're about to leave?
I tip everytime at a restaurant as I think its pretty much frowned upon one doesn't after dining... Is it the same with this, regardless of satisfaction level?
Is this micro stuff legal, or do I have to fear if uniformed people will be busting in?

I thank you for anyone who posts anything helpful. Hopefully the answers I receive help me calm down...
I've been lurking around since 2006, but haven't had the chance to try until now.
But rest assured, I will be contributing to the review board once I come back tonight!

personally i like indies better, I know that all of the money goes right to them, and feel that they give better service. Not sure exactly what you are looking for but if shoot me a pm i can give you my experiences

I'm sure there is a sticky or a thread somewhere on this, but I don't know where.

Generally at a AMP you will pay the mama/papasan for the room fee only (generally $40-$60 depending on how long). At a micro I think usually you just pay the SP the whole fee at the end (for most reputable micros... ones that ask for money up front are probably not terribly service oriented). Give her the money after you've gotten dressed and are ready to leave. Hand it to her with a smile and a bow if she is there, or if she is cleaning up or not present just leave it on the side table, in a visible place.

Tipping is entirely optional. I like to tip my regulars as it leads to better service on future visits. Do not feel the need to tip, it should be reserved for exceptional service only IMO. You will not be frowned upon for not tipping above the agreed upon fee.

Micros are technically not legal, they are running a common bawdy house. Be discreet, move quietly, do not disturb the neighbours or draw attention to yourself. The chance of you being "busted" are miniscule.

Oh, another thing if you don't already... pay attention to your hygiene, esp. your breath and body odour before you go. This will help you have an enjoyable session for both of you.

Who are you thinking of seeing? I think your first time it might be a little overwhelming to go to a micro... would almost recommend just doing a R&T or an AMP instead. No biggie though, you'll survive and may even have a good time.

I just think a micro for your first time, will add significant extra stress, if you are feeling it already.
At micros I have had both, paying the girl and paying the lady in charge. But don't worry, they
are not shy about asking for the money, just do it when they ask. Or offer it, not a big deal either way.

Yeah you would usually tip, unless its poor service. I always base my tips on attitude instead of service.
She might offer you extra services not advertised, and will expect a tip for that.

based on what ive read, only the owners get owned if raided.. cant seem to find any info on what happens to "Johns" found inside micros... sigh

As per my comment re "tipping": for an AMP where there is a room charge the extra fee you give to the girl for the "services" is sometimes called a "tip". For an all-inclusive this is just called "the donation". A real "tip" is extra cash to the girl for doing a great job. Some guys like to always give an extra $20, some base it on performance. As I said, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, but I've never got any grief from anyone for NOT tipping extra... but don't try to shortchange them on the donation.

BTW if you happen to arrive somewhere and then want to back out (this is more for an indie), you should offer $20-$40 for wasting their time. Also, if you make and appointment and want to back out, phone and cancel.

Most situations can be resolved by being polite and a gentleman. Be aware though that some SPs and mama/papasans are hustlers and are looking for any chance to make a buck. If you ever feel uncomfortable or that you are being taken advantage of, just politely collect your things and leave.

i guess in the end, what you pay is what you get right?
from what ive seen for indys:
$.60 (at least) for 30 min - i dont mind the damage, its the time available (accomp shower, massage. how much time is left for the entree?)
$$.20 (at least) for 60 min - damage is getting kinda high for me personally

for micros
$.20 for 45 minutes... seems like the good amount of time and damage.

If anyone could PM me any asian indies they know for around that time/damage ratio, send me a PM.
otherwise i think im more inclined to go micro route.

This new found activity of mine will only be a one time thing, at least for the near future. (Or at least I hope so)

And thank you Holly for spending the time to post that up. I also found something...

"2."Bawdy Houses" are illegal. This provision was made part of the Canadian Federal Code in 1850. Yes, 1850. A bawdy house is a place kept, occupied or used by at least one person for the purposes of prostitution or indecent acts. Therefore incall service is illegal but enforcement of this varies in different cities from almost no enforcement unless also involves other activities such as drugs or illegal aliens, to even trying to use this provision to shut down swing clubs in some Eastern Canadian cities."

Therefore does that mean that even if I were to meet with an independent SP who uses an incall location, there really is no difference to being caught at a micro...?

Note: I do understand an indie would have less traffic, more discrete, less chance of getting caught, etc.
