Most of time when I drive by Pacific and Davie near David Lam Park, I see film crews working there. Does anyone know what they are filming?

Filming....

Dear Jmilow,

I bet if you walked up and asked them, they would be happy to tell you. Just a thought.

I have seen crews all over the down town area filming things for one reason or another. And I love to ask questions. It's kind of fun. And most of them are pretty nice about explaining what is going on.

If you find out, let us know.

I remember an old TV film years back, and they used the English Bay Cafe as someone's beach front Condo. And English Bay was in the film as well. They shot it so it looked like the building was where they lived. It was really weird. Oh, the magic of Hollywood. I think Goldie Hawn was in the film. That was back in the eighties when I was young and alive.

I am still alive, but I am getting fussier in my old age.

Take care my friend,
bobsled.

Thanks for the reply Bobsled. Since I am a very curious person, I ususally walk up to the crew and ask them. Usually when I see a shoot in the Concord Pacific area, I am driving on the roads so it is difficult to find out what they are filming in the neighbourhood. I saw a film crew was shooting Da Vinci's Inquest at the Vancouver Club last month. They was also another crew shooting inside a dry cleaner on 4th Ave couple weeks ago. And another crew often park their trailers and trucks on Howe Street doing some filming in the Vancouver Art Gallery.

I remember driving by Ned Bailey's Stadium in one chilly winter night last year and saw the parking lot was packed with vehicles with lots of trailers and trucks. The stadium light was also on so I knew they were doing a shoot. I pulled into the parking lot and one of the crew told me they were shooting ABC's Kingdom Hospital. I agree it is fun seeing these people at work, or maybe I just have too much time on my hands.

That is a popular location due to the round house, and access to the seawall. The crews I know of, have been various from week to week. Hint, check the pink arrow signs on the nearby street posts. The letters are generally abbreviations of the production ie. KH Unit- Kingdom Hospital Unit.

I was having lunch at Provence in March and saw they were filming a BMW 3 series traveling down Marinaside Cresent and going around the roundabout in circles. Not too interesting to watch.

Not sure if this is the same crew filming near David Lam Park, but I saw a crew filming at Yaletown yesterday. As if it isn't difficult enough to park at Yaletown, they blocked off so many parking spaces along Mainland.

WE in the Film Industry are really nice folks

I being just one of 30,000 in the industry and love it can tell you that if you go up to any film worker or Teamster or other member of the crew they will tell you what they are filming and sometimes who the stars are. They are funny about that as there are stockers sometimesso they tend to be very closed mouth about that.

If you live in the area they film They love to speak and be social with the local people.

As we tend to cause upset in the neighbourhood we will go out of our way to be good with the people in the area. This is not to say we will be used. We get that in the Skids in East Van all the time and that is why I am assigned to the shows to make sure they are safe and the equipment is were it si suppose to be and not walking down the street. When things get bad we call in a Temaster and they will shut down the problem real quick.....I love those guys!
