To answer your question, most women - trafficked or not - don't want their face exposed. Three ways to handle this: don't show any face, blur the face, use someone else's face.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the educational part. It's long, reading is optional.

The pics are taken from various sources/other individuals where the face is exposed. For example: a porn actress, a lingerie ad, an Instagram account, other social media accounts, a freeze-frame from a movie, and so on. And of course these pics are taken from anywhere in the world, the lingerie model in Australia will likely never find out she appears in an escort ad in Canada, face and all.

Needless to say the scammers don't care about the reputation of the lady in the pics they stole, if social media outs her - incorrectly - as an escort the scammer thinks to himself: "Not my problem".

In many scams there is no living, breathing woman involved, it's some low-life sitting in front of his computer with a folder of stolen pics, a cellphone or two, messaging apps and multiple telephone # apps. Ask to talk to the lady in question and you will likely get radio silence or "First e-transfer the money, honey". Ask "her" to post/send a fresh pic with "her" holding a sign with date, Winnipeg and name on it and you either will be refused or "she" will ask you to buy the pic first, a pic that never arrives. Those ads that say "I don't send pics", a lot are scammers. They will try to get a sucker to e-transfer money before the poor sap even sees the goods.

The face thing is a guideline, a reason to be suspicious, it's not a hard-and-fast rule. The way I use the term "red flag" is it means it is wise to either investigate further, or move on to the many sure things that are available at any one time. As well, a few highly-regarded ladies on the western touring circuit do show their face in their ads e.g; Amanda Schamda, underlining the point that face-exposure is not a hard-and-fast rule.
