It seems more and more verified ads keep appearing on Leo that are completely fake pictures. How are these getting through so easily these days?

It's actually an old problem with leolist and many popular websites that preceded leolist.

It was at its worst in the height of the pandemic and because of the backlash and constant criticism on perb, terb & merb, leolist has been adding warning in each ad telling people to be careful about scams and misrepresentation.

Keep in mind that they receive reports about the scamming accounts but they have never acted on them . The mighty $ runs things with leolist and a few of its competitors or at least it supersedes any sense of empathy or cooperation to weed out the scammers.

Reviews board advertising sections, Tryst and Eros should be your go to sites . Leolist and locanto should be used if you have a good sense of the sex industry scene....or a very good 6th sense ... Keep in mind that you are of the wrong gender to be on the good side of common sense when your hormones come in to play and junior runs your decision making faculties.

Leolist does not and never has cared about scams, ED drug sellers, fake ads or anything else. They take the money and don't ask questions. The addition of little warnings on the site from time to time is probably more about legal liability than any real concern over their business model. When someone replies to a LL ad and they end up drugged and robbed or worse, the site owners can then say that they warned all of the site visitors to be careful. As discussed on many occasions, especially after 10 or 11 pm, nearly all LL ads should be treated as fake. During the day, it's 50/50. When you are looking at outcall, expect that every single ad of an unknown/unreviewed lady is a total ripoff.

There's yet another review today from a guy who got ripped off sending a deposit to a random off LL advertising outcall/party friendly etc. Guys, please learn from others mistakes. The only way these idiots survive is guys thinking with their dick instead of their brains.

Common Sense isn't so common, so I can't say it's easy to pick out the scams on leolist, but it is that easy nonetheless.

There will never be a perfect system for a provider to advertise their trade legitimately. The problem with relying on review boards, Tryst, and Eros (et al), is that those venues are for REAL professionals in the game. High value VIPs types. They make good money, so they can spend through the nose to get on those platform and prove their own legitimacy. God Bless 'em.

But not 'everyone' is into their scene. Sometimes saving those pennies is a pain in the ass. Sometimes people want the nasty roach-motel scene, over a being with a princess in a sky-rise crystal palace penthouse suite..... and for that, one wishes Leolist or any other classifieds website was a more legit platform to feature the mid-to-low range providers.

So just stick to the 'guidelines' that get floated around these review boards, sharpen that eye, and take your chances when dealing with leolist.

One other thing about LL which I noticed lately, and maybe this was not how it was originally, is that to report a fake / scammy ad, you have to sign up as a member of LL. Not able to do it if you just browse without logging in.

Guys, please learn from others mistakes.
The way I see it, this is the main function of PERB.

Internet says LL is based in Michigan. Very few details about owners etc.
The site seems mostly automated and obviously nobody actually verifies anything.

cc is a country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Cocos (Keeling) Islands, an Australian territory in the Indian Ocean. Far away from the prying eyes of LE in Canada.

Bits and pieces also seem to indicate a tie to Holland/the EU on some of the whois information. Their terms page says Budapest. There is also Michigan noted in Crunchbase.

But seeing that it comes from an island that belongs to Australia (a five eye member country) why would websites like perb and leolist use that instead of some more random country?

I think it's a matter of the sheer number of jurisdictions being involved. Company perhaps based in Michigan, legal offices in Hungary, IP registration through Holland with an Australian domain. Where do you sue and who and how? I think it's like a series of shell companies so that it's difficult if not impossible to ever track the real owners down, because they clearly make a living off prostitution. I mean, look at the rest of the sections of "leolist", they are never really used, although the are present for appearances. At least Backpage actually had other listings similar to craigslist, but by the end nearly all of the revenue was coming from escort ads. They were stupidly based in the US and were transparent enough the FBI could track them down and seize the site, the servers and the offices. No way that happens to Leolist, even if the Canadian government really got motivated to try.
