....and the best out there. I have been in a search of a decent set of these for a little while....I thought I had it nailed today as I glanced through the London Drugs flyer and *finally* saw the Klipsch S4 earbuds on sale at their local stores. CNET has reviewed them as one of their "top 5 headphones" ever reviewed and raved about their <$100 pricing. Well....I phoned..."yes, we have them"...so I bicycle my ass down there in this nasty weather....excitedly tore open the packaging in the lobby only to have my little Zune player fail immediately due to no battery....for fuck's sake...such planning.

I get home, let it charge up, open a beer, flip open the cookbook, decide on shepherds pie and some rice pudding, check the ingredients, got most of them, can fake/sub the ones I don't....and let the Zune charge. So...now...I have the pie in the oven....and I am listening to Fiona Apple sing out Shadow Boxer which is one of the best ways to test out new listening equipment....long slow backbeat...low to mid range frequency....and I am a bit disappointed in what I am hearing. I have overtheear Bose phones that these ones just don't keep up with....sigh. I was so hoping these would be the ones that would give me the clarity of sound that just make you go...."yeah, that's it". I need/wish/want something a bit more discrete than overtheear phones so that I can fit them under my helmet or pull out one side and pretend that I am listening to whomever I am talking to at the time.

One of the big picks in the CNET reviews was the quality of the extension cord and I have to agree....very thin...and I can see that kinking out and failing....I'm hardly one to treat this sort of equipment with kid gloves...it is there to serve a purpose..I toss the Zune down my shirt fronts....hop on the bike or whatever...and when I need to retrieve it...I simply pull the cord....who doesn't???...lol...well, I'm sure many. But, in any event, I don't see these things holding up and so I remain disappointed. I am hopeful that London Drugs will do a return on these....I can't see why not, it's not like I'm trying to return underwear or a condom. Still, I wouldn't like the thought of buying something that's been that far down someone else's ear canal.

So....my question...and there is one. Have any of you fine souls discovered/uncovered a set of in ear phones that you would give an unqualified "must buy" nod to? Price is always an object...but...like a fine fine woman....once you find the right one....that price is irrelevant. Price in this life reflects value 9 times out of 10....and whether it's a tool, a piece of furniture, audio equipment, professional service or whatever....there is much truth to the adage that "you get exactly what you pay for". I would like to find....just as I have found in other avenues (laughing and thinking of some pretty cool advertisers on this very board)....that one purchase that leaves me with that..."wow, I would have paid twice that for this".

kindest regards,

eddie

p.s. I have booked 24 hours off and intend to use that time to consume every bottle of beer left in my fridge....I think there are 8 left....if my posts become more disjointed and/or difficult to read...I accept full responsibility.

You need a cook book for shepherds pie?
yep...I always cook by the book....I am no expert on such things and there are always "variations"....I'm a rookie and I don't trust myself to do it any other way. I guess that sounds silly for such a basic dish...but, hey, it works.

I'm wondering what ingredients he needs to sub/fake... and what with?!?
lol!!!!...in this case, they wanted brown sugar...I subbed in white. It's how we "gourmet's" manage with a limited kitchen. This is an interesting forum....headphones...headphones...headphones....the meal was merely background info. My apologies.

I should probably follow your example. Maybe my cooking wouldn't taste like such crap.

Here's some head gear for you. Sorry, I think I am turning into sperminator.

lol!!!!!!....nah, I already have that, but thanks. Besides, the wind catches it when I'm outside...it's really useless to be honest. And the cold fucks up the whole jaw movement thing.

As for turning into sperminator, I doubt that could happen. I am sure both he and you are as unique as every other soul that inhabits this place.

kindest,

eddie.
