Because of the heat and yo-yoing weather, my lips have become increasingly dry, cracked and sore. I was wondering if the HN or anybody else had any advice as to what could help. I have tried standard lip balms, chapsticks and things like that (ie blistex) but with little success. In fact, I find it has made in worse in some ways. What can I do to ease and eliminate this discomfort? Are there foods I can eat or some kind of creams I can use that will help? Any input is greatly appreciated :)

Thank you for the imput so far. Do you know the price of these balms. While I want to soothe my dry lips, I don't want to break the bank to do it.

Most lips balms contain wax & petroleum products (ie vaseline) which act as a barrier, screwing up natural cell regeneration and with constant use, makes matters worse. Furthermore, the chemicals in most products can irritate over the long term & are absorbed which is a whole other problem.

Switch to a natural product with a few ingredients that you can actually pronounce or just dab on a bit of grapeseed oil (no scent) and/or aloe vera (use the actual plant) for its additonal healing properties.

More info than you'd ever want to know on lip balm: http://www.copperwiki.org/index.php/Lip_balm

Hi AA…Train

This is out of my specialty area but I can give you some suggestions.

I would just suggest talking with one of the pharmacist at a place like shopper’s drug mart or London drugs.

I just spoke with shopper’s drug mart and they said that they have a good range of products.

As already mentioned in the thread, they also recommended trying Burt’s Bees products.

Here is a link to their website. They have a range of different products that won’t break the bank.
