Drinking age in the USA ?

Is it not strange that the American drinking age is 21, but you can join their military or appear in porn at 18 ?

Why is that ?

18 is almost half of high school grade 12s (if Jan to early June birthdays).

Mother's Against Drunk Driving pushed for raising the drinking age to 21 for all states. It's bad politics to anytime oppose that group.

Ronald Reagan threatened to withhold highway funds from states that didn't raise the age to buy booze to 21.

You can sill buy an AR-15 from a licensed seller at age 18 and shoot-up your high school.
