the Sedins are soon to be 35 and have how many yrs left on their contract? 3 yrs?4? only the most wildly optimistic Canucks fan would think they have
a chance of sipping from Lord Stanley as members of this organisation.
and with a combined cap hit of 14Mil(?) they have as much chance of being traded as Tony G. has of winning a Pulitzer for sports journalism.

in a fair world, in their final season,at trade deadline the Canucks would reward their loyalty by "trading" i.e., giving them to a strong contender for little in return, allowing them one
last shot at the Cup,while picking up a large chunk of their salary.

of course, that only happens in the movies.

what WILL happen, no bloody doubt, is that, as soon as they are eligible, they're straight into the Hall of Fame.

this happy event will result in much, angst, anguish, and gnashing-of-teeth amongst the mouth-breathing contingent who travel by vine to the Rog,
as they mutter into their beer,"but they're SISTERS,goddamit,SISTERS I say!"

Getting a 2nd rounder for Bieksa is pretty good for a 34 year old d-man with a lot of miles on his body. Guess Luca Sbisa becomes the new cough up king on the Canucks blueline.

finally , i think this was a good deal.
I liked kevin and appreciate his years here.
but he had to go.
2nd rounder and unloading his $$$$ for cap space was a great move.
Jim is loading up on trump cards for 2016...
expect mediocre hockey again this year.... maybe , just make the playoffs .... unless jim uses his cards for a trade at free agency.
but i don't see a first line D man coming.... and we gonna need it , Calgary , Edmonton , ducks , Jets , all loaded up... and got BIG.
Oh Fuck !!! actually we may be in a big heap of shit !

The Nucks were beat by the Flames who got creamed by the Ducks like a rag doll, makes you wonder.

A little late on this. Kevin was a big part of this club for like 10 years and he will be missed here, but I like the deal for a 2nd rounder :thumb:. Cap space freed up and word has it that Cody Franson is in the pick. I wouldn't mind that. July 1st could bring a few more surprises.

Kevin will now be reunited with old team mate Kes. Can't wait for crowd reaction when the Ducks make their way up here.

Load up the system with youth and reap the benefit much sooner than later. I applaud Jim's moves and charge.

Kassian is gone finally!

Waste of an asset to get that work in progress!

I don't know…Edler isn't exactly reliable either.

Now if they can just move, Edler, Burrows and Higgins. I will be happy. 1, 2 or all 3. The Sedins would be the greatest extra of course.
yup, that would free up a lot of cap space.
but didn't Edler, Burrs and Higgy had contract renewal recently?

would like to see Dan and Hank hoist the Cup and they came so close to getting one.
well deserving for what they've accomplished in the league and for their outstanding contribution
in the community, especially BC Childrens. they seem genuine and humble.
plus, who can hate nice guys?

Brandon Prust, not Preston.

Weren't you one of the deluded who thought Kassian was going to be the next Bertuzzi, despite evidence he didn't possess any skill beyond hs size?

It's all mute

Canucks are married to the sisters and the alimony payments are of Hollywood proportions

Expect 3 straight years out of the playoffs, all the teams in the west are getting better, except for....

The part that really baffles me is why we have to surrender another draft pick when we are trying accumulate picks. I know just a 5th rounder but I thought an even player swap would have been fair.

The Habs need something to show for if and when Kassian is washed out of the NHL.

Prusty has definitely lost a step and never had much skill, but he's a good soldier who will stand up to ANYONE who takes liberties with a teammate. Nobody fights more and for an average size guy, I have never seen him get cut or clearly beaten in a fight. He got a ridiculous contract with the Habs when Sather wouldn't pay what he was demanding and has never really been as effective a player since leaving the Rangers. But he will help a lot against some of the tough teams like LA, Anaheim, etc. The kid will fight guys 6 inches taller and 50 pounds heavier. Just a great team guy and great sense of humour. His teammates in New York absolutely loved him. I think he will play a decent fourth line role and probably play a bit better overall away from that toxic Habs atmosphere. Go get 'em Prusty!

they'll probably recoup the draft pick when they trade prust at the deadline to a contender looking for more grit and better penalty killing going into the playoffs. hamhuis will probably be dealt at the deadline for picks as well since he hits the market next year.

The paparazzi style media, the insane pressure from said media and fan base, the whole Anglophone-Francophone thing, playing for a loose-cannon coach who has already been fired and rehired. 22 years without a Cup no doubt feels like 122 in that madhouse. And they aren't going to win anytime soon with that popgun lineup.

You are certainly entitled to that opinion. I do agree that the media and Anglo-Franco stuff can be a negative at times but that's about it.
