When you visit a friend, do you use the doorbell or knock?

I usually ring doorbell if it's the first time. Back in the day there were a lot of shit doorbells though so knocking became the norm often. That being said if there's a screen door then obviously doorbell.

After my friend buzzes me in, he unlocks his door so I can just walk in.
I know what you're thinking. Some SPs do exactly that but my friend is not an SP.
