This is one of those movies that you MUST see in the theater. Great script, great action. I loved everything about it, and want to see it again!

Not at all what I was expecting. It will blow you away. Plus, its a vancouver director; Neill Blomkamp

Poor Christopher, poor Wikus. I cried at the end.

I think it's my favourite movie this year- blew the nacelles off Star Trek and I REALLY liked that one. (It took that one to wash the abomination tha was Transformers from my mind.)

You gotta love a movie where anthropomorphic (sic) prawns are the good guys and none of the humans are remotely likeable.

The thing about District 10 though- it's a foregone conclusion now that it's going to get made ,but the story will be over in 10 minutes. Christopher brings a fleet of motherships back, says "Let my people go or we nuke you back to the stone age." fade to black. It'll be interesting to see where they go.

(Although despite the weaponry, the prawns weren't all that aggressive. )

I understand the popular Seafood restaurant chain based in Seattle, known as "Ivar's Acres of Clams", is opening a new start-up in Johannesburg, only this will be named, "Ivar's Acres of Prawns".

Great movie! And not a single North American accent in it!

My fav of the the year too Bruin. I'm looking forward to District 10 and hope they open a can whoop ass on the humans! I can't wait to see what happens when 3 , 4, 5 million of them get their weapons back. Go Prawns!

i really liked the movie but my only complaint was that i thought that the war would begin in that movie and not district 10 if there is one

I thought the first hour of the movie was a total snore-fest.
Picked up in the last half hour or so, but not enough to redeem itself in my eyes as being greater than a 7/10 rating.

the fact that they didn't tone down the violence to get a bigger audience was a plus as well. alien weapons exploding humans all over the place.

did the theatrical version have subtitles when the aliens spoke?? i watched the R5 copy from the net which didn't have any, so it was just them clicking and making other noises.
Yes there were subtitles.

I'm guessing this is a similar phenomenon to the guy who watches 2001 expecting it to be like Star Wars...

I'm guessing you liked Transformers 2? District 9 was by far the most entertaining movie of the summer (although The Hangover made me laugh more than any comedy recently).

Hah! To be fair, there were elements of Episode I that I thought were fantastically cool, and well done. Unfortunately they were largely outweighed by Jar-Jar, little Anakin, and other crap.
