It has been announced that Sydney will be back in action starting Monday...
How long do you think until he returns to top form?

GDit I can't vote. But you need another option. Syd will be back to top form immediately. They waited for him to come back when he was ready to play and be in top form. I think he'll have a goal and two assists in his first game! :)
I believe my dear that that falls under option 1 ;) ... I agree and think there are a few games very early where he will flash brilliance... he's just too good not too, but I think the first couple hits, everyone will hold their breath, and it might cause him to hesitate a little.. so I am saying flashes of Brilliance right away... consistent brilliance between All Star and playofffs

The real question is, how long until some fool hits him in the head agian and he's done? Sad but true.
I have to agree with Hunka on this. One more bad hit can end his career. It's time for Penguins to have a tough enforcer to protect him!

He has been skating hard for weeks. So no reason he couldn't be a point a game guy right away.
But to get back to 1.5 ppg.....who knows.

Pittsburg has done well without him, so you dont want to mess with whats working. Even for Crosby.
He might play 4-6 minutes less per game. My guess 70-80 points, if he stays healthy

Here and There
Detecting another Eric Lindros head here. After watching Manning get his receivers murdered over the middle for over a decade I've come to the conclusion the NFL has it right. The players in these contact sports are getting too big, too strong, too fast and the head can only be protected so much. And like was already mentioned, you can have any old crummy hockey player go take him out; that player only needs the ability to line Crosby up for a cheap shot. At least the nfl and conversly cfl teams need all 11 or 12 defenders to be competent to be successful (even roster sizes aren't large enough to accomodate a "goon" on the squad)

He won't Miss Vanesssa. As a matter of fact, no athlete no matter how good they are can jump back to top form after a long term injury. For the first few games he will be limited to 15-18 minutes a game, depending on how much power play time he gets. I do think he can get back to his top form before the All-Star break, probably by early in the new year. And don't be afraid to swear for fucks sake. This is PERB not a Kindergarten class. Cock, piss, shit, damn, balls :p

If I was Sydney Crosby, I would have retired. That's what I did when it was a choice between another fight and still having some of my grey cells working.
And I'm sure if he did, that wouldn't piss off the good people at Reebok and Tim Hortons and the list of other companies he signed endorsement deals with. Crosby is the face of the league. ( Probably because Ovechkin is so damned ugly. :pound: ). That will keep him around, That and his competitive nature.

I think the "fruity" kid, will be injury prone for the rest of his career...

Then people will talk about "what if" he stayed healthy...

I'm calling 2 points tonight.
This will be the largest television audience for the Islanders ever.

You know you are a big deal, when they put together a Hockey Night in Canada broadcast on Monday, for your return.

I think Crosby will get back to form before the all star game and you can bet that this ordeal has taught him to keep his guard up and be more aware...that being said...IF some player does deliver an obvious cheap shot with intent to injure and he end Crosby's career from such a hit...I highly doubt that player would be in the NHL after that.....the Shannahan has taken this issue very seriously and there have been a bunch of suspensions in just the pre-season games and he would come down like a tone of bricks on any player who ended the career of the crown jewel of the NHL with a deliberate cheap hit with the intent to injure.

i've said all along that the hitter should have to sit out as many games as the hittee misses. if the hittee has to retire due to his injury, then the hitter's career is OVER - and no team is going to support a loser swilling beer for the rest of his days. they will cut him adrift in a second

yeah, i know that the concussions are due to a lot of hits, not just one - but force a couple of players to retire and you would see a whole new level of respect on the ice... kinda like the old days

For the record, Vanesssa was off by one goal, Sid got 2 goals and two assists but impressive never the less...

My apologies to VaneSSSa!

Sid the Kid is a stud and it's good to see him back in the game. He has accomplished so much at 24 but it would he a real disappointment to see him not compete to his full potential due to this injury. I'm glad Pittsburgh took the time to get him healthy!
