Hi again. This is like my third post and its another question. I promise that once I move to Edmonton I will contribute meaningfully, ie. reviews.

For now though, I need a place to live. I am looking to rent (maybe buy) a nice condo. Not a converted apartment building, but an actual condo. If I had my way I would live in Old Strathcona, but I may wind up on the north side of the river. I work in the north end of the city so I don't want to be too far out of the downtown core. What are the nice buildings around those areas these days? Anyone know about this ICON place by Grant McEwan - they seem to have a lot of places for rent. How about Water's Edge? Anything else near there? Would I be insane to live in St. Albert??

Sorry for the questions guys, but if anyone has info and is willing to offer some advice, thanks.

Try 5th st Lofts. Glenora Mansion. The legecy. The TEN. Cambridge Lofts. The Parlament, The Venetien, just to name a few. They are all in the downtown area

Are you sure a hooker review board is the best source for condo advice? Might be better off checking out a more helpful site like connect2edmonton or reading the local newspapers.

Ya I'm doing all that too. Thanks for the connect2edmonton link, I will have a look there right now.

I figure that there are guys and ladies on PERB who are in the same demographic as me, and will be able to provide some first hand advice on condos. I've gotten some great tips so far. Thanks to all who coughed up a building name or recommended a neighbourhood. Very much appreciated.

Hi FloridaGuy, good luck with the move and welcome to perb. :)

I'm just wondering, are you Canadian? You're awfully nice eh. :D

I live in Oliver and love it... As more Condos are being built, more restaurants/bars/services are becoming available...

that being said, I personally would rent for a year in a new city, to get a sense of what areas of the city appeal to me.

just my two cents

Thanks for your tips. Got a place, very happy, and now I can turn my attention to looking into the hobby in Edmonton! See you in a couple months. Thanks again.

ps. ya, the Water's Edge is probably best avoided. Small and cramped. Great location, clean, safe, nice enough, but its really for somewhat wealthier students, those just entering the workforce, or people who need a pied a terre in Edmonton but don't want to pay for One River Tower or whatever it is, just down the street (at a million pop, or higher).
