Having problems with web cam not installing properly. Running XP Media Center. Checked hardware profile, there is the dreaded ! in yellow. Some reason software won't take. Installed and uninstalled many times. Just started today.

A rubber mallet to the keyboard is a good start. If that doesn't work try kicking the tower until you smell smoke. Honestly I have no idea. Ask me about cola and I might be able to answer you. When it comes to computes and webcams, I have a hard enough time getting into my email, and webcams are just a pain in the ass.

This is the message in hardware profile I am getting

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Don't know windows, but is the dreaded ! on the web cam or on some other device?

If it's on the web cam I suggest finding the model for the camera and going to the manufacture's web site and seeing if they have updated drivers to download, or a FAQ.

I have done that, both for the new cam and the old one. It will not install the driver period and I am getting a bit bent out of shape over it. What I need is someone to come over, and see for themselves of what I am talking about and fix it..awwwk *ready to choke computer*

Even if you uninstall the driver, it might be still in the registry, causing you to go on a wild goose chase.

Most plug and play USB item need you to install the driver first, then plug the device in later.

If you just bought the camera, what I suggest you to do is hit the start button, all programs, accessories, system tools, and system restore. Restore the registry back to the date you installed the driver, minus a day.

After your computer reboots, install the driver first, then plug in the camera, and see if that works.

I would really like someone to come over and fix it for me, I don't have the paitence. Either or that take it into a reputable shop. Tech support for this is a crock of shit, and I don't want to hit Vancouver and be told some BS from the storde, I would prefer to stay and do business in Surrey
